We are on a budget trip in October and staying at animal kingdom lodge, kidani in a studio. I know we could order from garden grocer or the other service but I have some extra time on our first day. We do not have a car, I thought I remember reading a walmart or grocery store was near AKL? Any ideas on how much a cab would cost? Or could anyone just give me specifics on what stores are near so I could look into it further? Thanks!

Publix
Orange Lake Town Center
14928 E Orange Lake Blvd
Kissimmee, FL 34747-8210
Main: (407) 239-4989

SuperTarget
3200 Rolling Oaks Blvd
Kissimmee, FL 34747
(321) 677-3971

Both of these stores are very close to each other and about 5 miles from AKV.

The Taxi Fare Estimator from Mears transportation says about $11.00 from AKV to the Publix.

There is a Publix and a Super Target I would guesstimate about 4-5 miles from AKL. The Map isn't exact but will give you an idea of where they are. You take a left out of AKV, then a right on Sherbeth Road to 192, turn right on 192 and go approximately 2-3 miles. Publix will be on your right, Target on your left.

I have no idea of what a taxi would cost (we do rental car), but maybe you could do a google map to get exact distance and call a cab company to find out the charge.

There is a Walmart about 5 miles past the Publix and Target by continuing on 192 then right on US 27 North.

I doubt it's worth doing the cab for this situation, it's not that close. Actually it is only about a mile as the crow flies, you just can't drive that way and have to go around. Maybe someone else from DIS will be there are the same time and heading to the grocery store and you could hook up. I know I've taken other members a couple of times in this situation.

I was thinking it's a little further, maybe 6-7 miles past the Publix if it matters. For WM, the one on 535 may be closer and is certainly easier to get to.

Walmart is anti american and anti jobs. Do not shop there, the job you save may be your own.....
I take it you don't shop from the internet either which has a 100 times any negative impact on a community and the nation as WM has in the area you reference.

Have you thought of using Garden Grocer or one of the other delivery services? The expense of a cab would more than likely be as much or more than the delivery charge. Plus they do the shopping for you and you do not have to fight the crowds at Walmart. I heard somewhere that the one on 535 was one of the busiest in the nation.

It's a large store but I've never felt like it was any more crowded than my local WM nor have I ever had problems with parking there, which I can't say is the case locally.

This is the walmart we go to -- never crowded and we get right in and out. (They also have a liquior store too!). But if the OP wants closer, then I agree the publix and target mentioned are probably the closest to the AKL. We visit this publix the most.

Didn't realize that employing 1.4 million Americans, even if they're not unionized (and able to keep products costs down) was anti-American.
