WalMart / Broken Wii game ??

I, ahem Santa, bought the kids the new Super Mario Wii game at WalMart. I know I bought it on 12/20, I can even tell you what time, and what register. Problem is, I paid cash and I can't find my receipt.

The game doesn't work at all . I know it's not our Wii, other games work fine - so we tried this one at the neighbors...still doesn't work. It just says Error Reading Disc.

My question is....what is WalMart's video game return/exchange policy with NO receipt . I just want the same game.

I would think that they would let you exchange it, but I don't know for sure. The best thing to do is to take it up there and tell them what happened.

I'd call Nintendo. I bought a sports game for WII that didn't work and called them. Gave them the info I needed and they mailed me a new one. Didn't even ask me to send the first one back to them....Which would have been fine 'cause it didn't work anyway.

Not exactly the same scenario, since I had a receipt, but last Christmas I had purchased an XBox game for my son. When he opened it to play the game, we discovered that the case was EMPTY. Yup...no disk at all; just the little booklet.

I was pretty concerned about this one. I mean, I did have a receipt...but would they really believe that the game wasn't in there and I wasn't just trying to get a second disk?

Store was great, and said that this type of thing does happen...including disks that simply don't work. What they were required to do was have another employee bring a sealed copy of the game up to the customer service desk. I could not leave the store with the game sealed; they had to open the packaging and cut through all the "security" measures so that I wouldn't try to then return it for a different title.

I think Wal-Mart's policy, even WITH a receipt, is that, if it is opened, you can only exchange it for the exact same item. So, I don't think you should have any issue taking it back and getting another Mario game.

I was recently in this exact same situation (with the same game, no less!) Wouldn't work in my Wii, couldn't find the receipt. Walmart exchanged it for another copy of the same game with zero hassle.
