Walkway from OKW to Port Orleans??

going to visit my home resort OKW, for lunch at olivia's during our trip in April/May. (we've never stayed there yet, we've been members since '97) thought we'd go take a look and check it out again to see if we might want to stay there, it just seems so inconvenient! but that's off the topic, I thought since we were going to be over there it might be nice to take a walk over to PO to take a look around. Is there a walkway path? and haow far is it??

There is no walkway.you can hike it,and there is a kind of short cut,(you;ll know what I mean when you see it), but it's still quite a walk.

There is an "unofficial" path over to Port Orleans/Dixie Landings. It takes about 10 mins. Check the OKW map..go to building 17..walk across thru the employees parking lot out onto Community Drive. There is a sign that says "employees only" but they don't mind if you cross thru. I think the sign is really meant to keep guests from parking in that lot. Cross Community Drive and on the left you will see a very wide clearing (generally used for storage of disney construction vehicles etc). Walk straight on thru the clearing towards PO. There is a small pond on the right as you walk. When you get near PO the clearing opens wider and you need to turn right and just enter PO grounds near the parking lot. Then just cross the lot into the main building for PO.. We take that pathway every visit to go to PO and over to DL for meals and just to see the resort. There are 2 other ways to walk over but this one is the fastest. Go for breakfast or lunch but not at night since it isn't lighted. We neve encountered critters (except rabbits) but who knows..Watch the weather since you are walking on dirt and grass..it can be wet after rain. If you go over and it gets late just take the boat from PO back to DD..its a nice ride. Even though its "unofficial" no one has ever said anything to us about using the walkway. On occassion we have encountered other guests and security/construction people and they always say hello. Since 1992 we have even taken the bikes over there since its a nice ride around PO/DL on the pathways/

You could take the boat to DD and there is a walkway from the West Side of DD to OKW. That would be the only walkway that I know of. <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">
