"walking" your reservation

we are planning a family trip in early january at BLT. we would need a 2BR, 1BR, and studio for nine nights. All would have to be standard view. i have never heard of walking a reservation before a few days ago on these boards. because these rooms are limited i was thinking of doing this...booking my 7 nights and then calling back for the 3 days to move it back a day and add one on the end. has anyone ever done this and received any attitude from the cm's? can they prevent you from doing this? i would hate to book a few days early and then find out i cant move back with out cancelling and rebooking.

Right now there is no penalty for dropping a day and adding a day. Hopefully you aren't looking at Marathon time for your three villas - you'll have lots of competition.

We were on the waitlist for BL view for about five months and never got it. Even the days before we left (after the seven day wait list ended), we couldn't get it. Standard view has the smallest inventory at BLT.

I am in the process of doing this now at BLT ... I'm not really happy I have to do it but our trip is basically from NYE through the beginning of the Marathon, so ....

I have managed to secure a SV, 2BR L/O for the dates we want. (I started this on Dec. 27th.) I am on a WL for a SV Dedicated 2BR. I had hoped to get my parents an SV studio ... right now all I can get them is a LV so it is only booked for a few nights - according to the CM the problem is the 30th and 31st. I will call again tomorrow (and the next day) to see what changes I can make.

Good luck if you try to "go walking". Be prepared with all your info and backup plans before you call at 9AM. Be polite but don't chitchat with the CM ... I "lost" the dedicated 2BR in the space of 2 minutes back on the 27th while the CM was cancelling my original October reservation.

So was the 2 bd standard and the studio standard not available today?

as of this morning there were no studio or 2Br standard view...there was a 2BR lake view though

just called back and booked a 2BR LV starting 12/31.....need to call tomorrow and try to change to a 2BR standard view. I get stressed when i have to book these!!!!!!!!

I just made my "call of the day" ... late I know, but 9AM just wasn't possible today.

There are still no dedicated SV 2BRs for the 31st and no SV studios for the 31st. I am now on a WL for both the dedicated SV 2BR and SV studio ... but at least we have rooms that will "work" for us for the dates we need.

Is the marathon time usually hard to secure at all resorts, or just BLT because of the monorail? We're hoping to get a GV for a week at OKW reserving at the 11 month mark on Saturday.

As long as you call at 9 EST on the 11 month mark, you shouldn't have any issues making that reservation.

I got all 3 rooms this morning....2BR standard....1BR standard....studio standard...the only thing i had to do was get my 2BR on 12/31 with a lake view. everyone is happy...all 14 of them!!!...they only have to show up now..too bad it wasnt that easy for me....just have to call back and get the remaining nights to complete our trip....thanks for all the replies...maybe see a few of you there!!!!!

Here's hoping you don't fall into the dreaded "Oh, our plans changed" syndrome from any of your guests. I would sure hate to have any points going into holding if they cancel late on you....Not to mention the extra work you went through.
