Although I have looked at all the maps available, read as much as I could about the resort, and combed through these boards, I still cannot picture the distance between Magnolia Terrace at POR and the food court. (I know I just have a mental block about this!:D )

If you have any comments, I'd be happy to hear them. Also, if you have been to the CBR and POR, comparisons between the distances, like "the walk between Magnolia Terrace and the food court is like the walk between Martinique and the food court" would really help.

Also, I can't figure out if there is a back entrance to the main building - on the Old Man Island side. The maps show the entrance at the opposite, but there looks like there are paths at the back, I just can't tell if there are doors.

Thanks!

Never fear! It is not that far a walk! There are several bridges across from the plantation's bldg's to the main food court / buildings! and yes there are several back doors for entry! :D

We have been in Oak manor twice and alligator bayou 35 /37 ? once and had no trouble figuring out the shortest route to the main building in no time. From oak manor we took the bridge right in front of magnolia to old man isle and across and your there no problem. Now depends on your view if you have a parking lot view you will be at the FAR end of the building and YES the walk is much farther the closer to the water or water-view you have the less the walk will be to the main building! :D Of course in reverse this means carrying your luggage farther from the parking lot if you have a car :p .

You will love PORS, we did and it remains one of our favorite resorts!

MKY :D

I consider it to be easier to walk form the AB than the MT...building 85...
If you were in buildings 14-18 on AB....It will be a quicker walk....
The walk from 85 is not long...but not the shortest
the food court does have a back entrance....right by the water dock...
check out a good map here...

The walk form CBR would be slightly shorter....if you were in buildings Martinique 26 or 25....or Trinidad North 31 or 32....
check out a decent map here...

The maps makes distances longer than they are appear....in MT 85 the walk is less than 5 minutes....not even...it only looks longer...

Overall I considered the Martinque walk to be shorter than that of the MT 85 walk....

...as far as the Mod's go, a walk from ANY of the POR (I'm assuming you mean French Quarters!) buildings are not as far a walk as most of the "outer" buildings of CBR, CSR, or Riverside!! (I know; been there, done that....:D )

I have stayed at Acadian House (next to Magnolia Terrace) and it wasn't that far of a walk to the foodcourt. (just over the bridge to Ol' Man Island and then over another bridge to the foodcourt area) We have also stayed at Paterre Palace (the last Mansion) it is a little farther of a walk, but still not the bad if you don't mind walking a little.

There are other doors into the foodcourt that are on the backside facing Ol' Man Island. You can also get to the foodcourt by going through the lobby or store, like if you get off at the bus stop and want to go to the foodcourt right away, just cut through the store.

I have only walked around Caribbean (never stayed there) and thought that it seemed more spread out than POR, but that could have been because I wasn't really sure where I was.
