How long of a walk is MGM to the BWV? Is this a doable walk with three kids?

Walk is not bad, depending on kids ages. Toddlers may struggle if it is really hot. You can always take the boat back. We like the walk, it is away from all the hustle and noise. Maybe you could feed them snacks on the walk?

Depending upon the location of your room, it's in the neighborhood of 15-20 minutes at a moderate walking pace. If you're headed to the Boardwalk itself, plan on 20 min.

The path is right alongside the water, and you will probably pass a boat or two along the way. It's not much different than walking through a theme park, but certainly not as stimulating for the kids. I ended up carrying my 3yo most of the way last time we did it, simply because it was easier than trying to prod him along.

There is also boat service that runs between MGM and BW. The boat could take more or less time depending upon how long you need to wait for the boat to arrive, but at least you'll be sitting once you get onboard.

The walk is less than a mile and will take 10-15 minutes depending on your pace. It can be a challenge in hot weather, but is a nice alternative when the weather is pleasant. Otherwise, just take the boat and get off at the Swan/Dolphin dock and walk across the bridge to the BWV.

Caskbill has posted a nice summary of the walk between BWV and MGM , plus some other walking options at WDW.

Enjoy!

Doc is right. DH & I walked it in Feb. It was a nice walk but there was very little shade. That sun can be very strong and there is no where to get relief from the sun. I can't imagine if the temp. was high. Be sure you are prepared for the whole walk or skip it and take the boat.

We perfer to walk to MGM instead of the boat. We almost always get there faster and this is with our 2 small kids. One in a stroller. It takes us 10-15 min. tops. We love the walk and DD loves looking at the ducks and water along the way. We do go in Nov. so the heat isn't that bad for us. You do walk under a bridge so you can get a break in the shade if you need it.

Maybe I'm the only dummie who did this, but don't go out through the lobby and walk all the way around. It saves several minutes to take the elevator all the way down to the pool area and go out that way (duh-why didn't I think of that the first day?)

If you have strollers its better yet-especially if they are asleep. I left at 12 minutes to 9 last summer (got back late from US) to meet a group at Fantasmic and made it with time to spare. I did run some though.

Another tip enter BWV thru the end door in the first wing you come to and then walk the rest of the way inside.

We really hustled one night in order to get to MGM for Osbourne Family lights before the park closed. I think we made the 'walk' in about 8 minutes!!! Not something I would recommend. Usually it takes us about 12 minutes tho. But, we are peppy walkers. Dh is 6'4", so we have to move right along to keep up with him!!!

We prefer to ride so we can conserve our energy for the parks. ;) And of course at the end of the day we're too tired to walk. My DD loves to ride the boat and sit in the back outside.
