walking to Fort Wilderness Campgrounds

We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge in Nov - first time at WL

We have two activities at the Fort Wilderness Campground - Segway Tour and Hoop Dee Do show.

I checked Google maps and there appears to be a trail between the two places. So ... is it walkable? would we be able to navigate it at first-timers to the area? Where does it start at WL? And where does it end up at the camp ground?
How long is the walk?

It would be a long, long walk. We took a surrey bike from the WL to FW and that was a nice long ride, and we didn't even go to the section where HDR is!

You can take the boat from the WL to FW and it drops you off right where the show is. Or you can take the bus.

FW is huge & all the activities are far away from the main entrance. It's best to just take the boat.

There is a walking trail but it would be a lot easier to take the boat to FW when you are going to Hoop Dee Doo. The boat dock is close to Pioneer Hall.

We are staying at the WL in December and plan to do a little exploring, including taking the walking trail to FW.

While taking the boat or bus is the quickest way between WL and FW, the walk is doable and a very nice stroll through the woods. We enjoy it because it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, rather than just a few minutes from one of the busiest places in the world. You could see Deer and other animals as well.

From WL you basically head out the South side of the resort and follow the paths. You can start out up by the bus stop or down by the boat and bike rental and head South and the paths meet up. There aren't a lot of path options, so you basically head South and East. You will come across a wider service road path and should turn left to head East. It winds around a little bit but basically takes you to the West side of the Settlement Depot, the area of FW that has the boat dock, horse barns, HDDR, and Trail's End. The walk takes us about 20 minutes, and we love doing it to start the day. However you get there, FW is worth the trip. Enjoy!
