We are staying at the Desert Inn & Suites across the street from Disneyland. I was wondering how long it takes to walk to the entrance to Disneyland so I can decide what time to leave in the morning.

I also would like to know how long it would take to walk to the ESPN Zone restaurant from our hotel. We want to hang out at Downtown Disney our first day there. We do have a car so I was trying to figure out if the smart thing to do is walk or drive.

Maybe 5 minutes to the entrance, depending on how you hit the stop light. 15 minutes to ESPN. You would be able to walk much faster than driving.

Put your car keys away. When you're visiting the resort, there's no need to drive anywhere when you're staying across the street from the park!:thumbsup2

Well this is all relative. For a 57 year old man we walked on say day four or five to DWNT Disney Tortilla Joes. It's a darn long way there.I was tired before we went and honestly if I had it to do over would have skipped it.I had to quit the parks early that night. It's like a second trip across the park.It is further than it looks and further than these guys are telling you.Again its all relative. If you are a marathon walker you'll be fine if you in my age group and a desk jockey maybe consider other alternatives.Sorry my two cents.

The walking distance is about 1/4 mile to the center of the esplanade, and a little over 1/2 a mile to ESPN. So, however long it takes you to walk that far. :) For reference, the walking distance from the back of Toontown to the front gates of DLP is a little under 1/2 a mile. The walking distance from the Castle to the front gates is a little under 1/4 of a mile.

It's crazy how distance gets distorted there! I would never think that it was a quarter of the mile to the castle. I guess I need to move closer - with all the wonderful distractions I could easily do 5-8 miles every day. Think how skinny I'd get.

Actually now that I think about it the Mickey bars, Churros and monte cristos would probably foil my plan.

Oh, c'mon now! I've got 4 years on you, and the walk is a snap! Seriously, if you can walk down Main Street, you can walk to DTD from the Harbor motels.

Thanks for all of your input. We will do the walk! That isn't too far for us and our youngest is 8 so he won't have a problem. Plus being in the car for 7 hours we will be ready to walk off some of that energy, maybe then we will get back to the hotel and be able to sleep so we can be ready for Disneyland the next day.

Going to DTD is a great way to get the anticipation going to hit the parks. And if it wears your kids out enough so they'll sleep that night, BONUS! :rotfl2:

We stayed at the Del Sol (which is right next to the Desert Inn) and from our room to the gate was .35 miles and I would say close to a mile to ESPN. I wore my pedometer and clocked it one day to the park gate.

No one says you have to run a race to get there. Take a nice leasurely walk and you'll be there before you know it. There are so many things to see along the way, you won't even notice the walk. I'm in the mid 50's age bracket too and I walk from park to park several times a day and don't notice how far I'm walking. I'm just too darn excited to be there to care!:)
