Walking shortcuts between parks?

I apologize if this topic has been covered prior, But I recall reading in another thread about short cuts between parks. We stayed at HRH for 5 days back in 04' and will be returning again for 4 days next month.
I never knew about the various short cuts from the Hard Rock Hotel to the parks. So of course, we logged many foot miles walking the canal, crossing the bridge to City Walk, then making our choice of parks.

And yes, the ferry-shuttles are fun, but they are scheduled and still put you in City Walk, right?

Also can't wait to see the new stuff since 04...Mummy and Shrek, anything else?)

The only short cut I know is the walkway to Universal from the hotel (which is right next door), and then you can walk in front of Hard Rock Cafe and NBA City to Islands.

Do you mean the shortcut from Universal to IOA? It is by the Nick Studios and comes out behind Hard Rock Cafe.

The boat drops you off at the CityWalk docks so its closer to walk from HRH. The short cut behind the pool bar has been closed so you have to veer left as you enter the pool area to the gate to the walk along the canal.

one shortcut you might want to use is at the hotel.


walk out the front door of the hrh and go left, past the palms resturant.
go down the stairs and at the bottom turn left.

walk on the sidewalk thru the employee parking lot.

this sidewalk emtpies out a few feet from the other, long walk around, sidewalk of hrh to the studio park.


it will take you 2 minutes this way.

the secret shortcut was closed down in 04 due to hurricane damage. this was the one around the bar at the pool. in 05 i was told hrh is not going to reopen that exit/entrance area as they prefer guests not having to view an employee parking lot. i used it anyway and it was not an issue

thanks you all...so noted. We really don't mind the walk so much to either park, but sometimes we need a quick HRH fix to recharge our batteries, have a cocktail by the pool, and let the kids swim a bit....then back to the parks.

A key reason why we love staying at Universals onsite properties. MUCH more ergonomic than WDW
