Are there walking paths throughout the OKW resort? If so, are they open and well traveled? I like the walk around the Boardwalk/Beach Club lake, but don't like the woodsy-ness of the Wilderness Lodge walking area. Also, can you walk to DTD. Thanks for any info!

Within the resort itself, it's mostly sidewalks that go along the streets. There is a short walking path that goes from near the snack bar at Turtle Shack (Old Turtle Pond Road) around behind building 52 and comes out at South Point near building 49.

You can walk directly to Downtown Disney. You catch the path near building 55. At the end of the road, go directly across the waterway, and turn left to follow the walking path. It's mostly in the open, but does go through a small section of woods.

I walked the path from DTD to OKW in May. It is exactly as Caskbill described. The path does hug the waterway and is quite open. You will also see the golf course and the path that leads to the old Treehouses.

For the most part the path is very quiet. At least this was my experience. During my walk I only came across a few employees working on one of the waterway banks and one couple on the path. I also did see the odd golfer on the course. So if you are looking for a quiet place to walk then I highly recommend it. Though it is long enough that you may want to take a pass in the hot summer months.

We love walking the sidewalks at OKW too. Lots of wildlife usualy visible all around, and the landscaping is wonderful.

We started walking from OKW to DTD the day after Hurricane Frances last year. Just as we got past one of the golf greens we saw 2 big black snakes on the path. That was it - straight back to OKW and took the bus to DTD :sad2:

I've never walked the path to DTD in the hot months, so never encountered the snakes.
