Hi Everybody

This is my first post after lurking for a while!

I've got a couple of questions...having stayed on WDW twice in the past we have decided to stay on I-Drive (at the Wyndham Orlando near Sand Lake Road) so that we see some of the other attractions; is it possible to walk rather than use the car eg to go to restaurants and shops?

Also...
when staying on resort using WDW buses is a breeze but how possible is it to park up at say, Downtown, and then use transport to go to other parks?

Any advice much appreciated!

Hi

You can certainly walk along I-drive, I know there are sidewalks, but I think the distances might be further than they seem in the car. There is also the I-trolley which will take you up and down I-drive as well.

I can't see any reason why you couldn't park at DD and use the buses, but I think you would find it very slow. You can't for example get a bus from MK to MGM - you would need to go via a hotel.

We take the car and drive all over WDW property, and other than MK where the monorail/ferry thing is a pain, we find it very convenient to have our car with us. We have had day in the past where we have had the morning in Animal Kingdom, gone to Downtown Disney early afternoon, Typhoon Lagoon around 4 and then out to dinner on the 192 in the evening. I think a day like that would be much more stressful, if not impossible on WDW transport.

Welcome to the DIS! :)

I've stayed at the Masters Inn, which is right by the Wyndham and Sand Lake Road. It's a good central location and there are plenty of restaurants etc which are in walking distance. We happily plodded up and down I-drive, I think from there to Pointe Orlando is maybe a 15 minute walk to give you some concept of time and distance if you're looking at a map.

Like Bev said, there is nothing to stop you parking at DD, but they have cut the buses from there to the parks (I guess too many people were parking there to maybe not pay the parking fee? It's a pain though, as often I liked to leave a park and head to DD afterwards) so you now have to go to a resort, and change buses there.
