Walking from Portofino Bay to parks

Hi All,

In preparation for our upcoming trip, the crazy planner in me was looking at google maps to try to figure out the best way to walk from Portofino Bay (where we're staying) to the parks, particularly to IOA. I have a few questions.

1. It looks like PB is across a road from the rest of Universal. Is this a busy road? How do you cross it? Is there a traffic light or tunnel?

2. I've read multiple threads about time to walk from hotels to the parks, and there are reported times anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. Obviously, PB will be on the longer side of that and it would be longest from there to IOA, but anyone know anything in terms of actual distance? We're fast walkers.

3. What time should we leave our room to get to early entry for WWoHP at 7am.

If you follow the normal walking path it goes under a bridge and you don't cross any roads. If you go the shortcut across the street and through the HRH parking lot, you will cross the road. There are stoplights with walk/don't walk lights. It isn't a big deal and is the faster way to go. Depending on how fast you walk and what route you take, I would leave yourself 15 minutes to half an hour to walk from PBH to IOA.

Now that you said "bridge" I do see it on the map. If it's faster to cross the road and go through the HRH parking lot, then I guess we'll do that. I imagine that there's not much traffic on any road around there at 6:30am!

I had looked at some of that thread but got scared off by the 50+ pages and the discussions about specific room selection. If there are maps and such in there, though, then I'll definitely look closer!
