Is it possible to walk to Epcot from MGM after Fantasmic? How Far?
Thanks!

It's about a 25 minute walk. The walk between MGM and the Boardwalk is kind of boring, but the walk across the Boardwalk is fun (and only 10 minutes). If you do manage to snag a boat, you can always get off at Swan/Dolphin and walk across the Boardwalk. Sometimes the waits for boat are kind of long after Fantasmic, or if you do manage to get on a boat early they will wait until the boat is full before they leave.

We walked it once because the boat was not working, I think someone told me that it was two miles. I dont think that I would do it again though, it seemed like it took forever.

we (me, DH, DS 6 and DS 3--IN THE STROLLER!) walked it last year and had a blast! The boardwalk had entertainers walking around and various "shows" to catch...we stopped to watch a terrific magic show--kids got to participate, got an ice cream cone, "people watched" the four person bikes (!), and loved the Boardwalk atmosphere. we plan to do it again this year...nice break in the day from the crowds in the parks (we go in April and it's really packed!) It does take about 25 mins if you walkk straight through...it took us about 2 hours, though!

It's not a bad walk. Back in May during Star Wars weekends we decidied to do the walk. My son and nephew had their light sabers out playing as we walked. The boat driver come over the loud speaker doing the "Luke I am your father". They thought that was so funny and we were waving at all the people on the boat. Just one of those great "memory snapshots"

It's quite a haul, considering that you have to do so much walking at Disney as it is. Why wear out your feet?...take the boat

I'd recommend walking from Epcot to the Boardwalk/Swan and Dolphan then get on a boat to MGM Studios its a nice walk and is better than riding the bus. :earsboy:

We did the walk last year, after the boats were shut down due to a thunderstorm brewing. We got trapped under the overpass for 15-20 minutes during the heaviest downpour/storm I'd ever been in!

Now, on a nice day, it could be a pleasant walk for those who are up for it. I believe the path is lit for after dark.

A really good "heads up" from the previous poster about the weather if you intend to walk to the Disney Studios. In June my DS (15) and I left the Boardwalk Inn and started walking. It started to drizzle but seemed like nothing. It started to come down heavier so we raced to get under the overpass for cover. By the time we got there it almost stopped so we continued walking. About half way from the overpass to the Studios entrance it started pouring. No lightning or thunder, just heavy rain. A tree provided brief relief then we started getting wet. My DS said we might as well continue since we were now soaked anyway. So we walked in the downpour passing numerous people trying for cover under trees or anything they could find. Of course, when we arrived at the Studios the rain just about stopped. Luckily we dried out quickly in the Florida heat. However, that night back at the Boardwalk I had to unfold every dollar bill I had in my pocket. I had to place all the money I had one by one on the table in the room so they would dry.
The moral of the story is..........check the skies before you try walking to the Studios! :wave2:

We love the walk! It is a bit long to walk all the way to Epcot but we've done it a couple times just fine. My MIL came to WDW once with us and we decided to walk because the line for the boats was huge at MGM! My MIL hated every minute of it and told us so every few minutes. We ended up taking a break in the BW lobby so she could rest up. By the time we were in Epcot seated for dinner she said the walk had been okay--go figure!

It's a very pleasant walk if...it isn't raining and it isn't in the high 90's and really humid. We like to make the walk in the morning or in the evening, especially during those hot/humid months. It is very well lit and open. We almost always beat the boats to BW at park closing times. The boat area is full of people, so we just walk. It usually takes us about 13 or so minutes to walk from MGM to BW. It's another 8 or so minutes from the BW to Epcot's Intl. Gateway. I have made the 'walk' in 15 mins though. Had to get to MGM from Epcot, after IllumiNations, before MGM closed because we wanted to see Osborne Family Lights. It was more like a speed-walk but we made it with about 15 minutes to spare.

Personally, I thought the walk to MGM from the Boardwalk area was long. I will admit I have back problems and not having a place to stop and sit for a short break was something I thought was missing. The walk from the Boardwalk to MGM is one and a quarter miles (one of the boat captains said this)...add in the distance from Epcot to the Boardwalk (and not taking "short-cuts" or getting lost at BWI :rotfl: ) and you've got a walk that's about one and a half miles. Add that to the walking around the parks and...well maybe you all are in much better shape than me! :teeth:

I agree the walk might be nice if the weather is nice...but it was hot and humid when we were there and I said I'd never do that walk to MGM again...

Personally, I like the idea of taking the boat from MGM to the Boardwalk so you can see what all is going on there (especially fun in the evening) and then walk over to Epcot...
