Walking from Homewood Suites to parks, easy walk?

We are staying at the Homewood Suites for our first DL trip in May. Just DH and myself. I know it is next to the Toy Story parking lot and was planning on walking over there to take bus to park. Wanted to do one magic morning while we are there and not sure we would get there in time if we took the bus. What kind of walk is it? Do they have sidewalks or is it a busy street with no sidewalks? Could we walk it in 20mins or so?

I think I am more nervous about this trip then planning any past WDW trips.

Thanks

I am staying there as well and had messaged a woman who had just left. She said the options are Uber $6-8 (don't tip), Taxi $10 with tip, or walk 15-20 minutes. She also said that on her MM the Toy Story shuttle was not running yet.

If they have sidewalks that isn't a bad walk. For the MM that is the way I think we will go. I just don't want to be walking on the side of a busy highway.

You will have sidewalks during your walk. Don't worry. We have walked along Harbour a lot during our trips and found the sidewalks were always nice and wide and comfortably safe. Google maps indicates it's a 1.7 mile walk - so however long that would normally take you. I am not sure why they have "main gate area" in their title though as they are not close to the main gates of Disneyland in my opinion. I find a lot of hotels in the area are deceiving that way!

There are two Homewoods now. The one next to Toy Story parking lot is called Homewood Suites Convention Center. This one is only 1.2 miles (24 min) according to google.

It's the brand new Homewood Suites correct?

The walk is very direct with wide sidewalks and safe stoplights with pedestrian specific crossing. Harbor is a wide, busy street but it is designed with heavy pedestrian traffic in mind. There are always a lot of people walking.

As I mentioned in your other post, it took me about 20 mins from Hyatt Place, which is directly across the street. You may have some added time as you have to cross Harbor to get to the correct side. AS a pp stated, there are lots of other people walking and the sidewalks are wide. I never felt unsafe with the traffic, unlike my own hometown with narrow sidewalks and narrow roadways.

The new Homewood Suites next to Toy Story parking is where we are staying. Good to hear it is just over a mile. That I think we can do. I look at it as we can either wait 20mins for a bus or walk for 20min and already be at the gate. Thanks everyone for the info. Can't wait to take our first trip.

I have to say that walking up Harbour from that direction on the east side of the street - past Candy Cane Inn etc is a nice walk too - I think you will find that!

It's not a bad walk in the morning but after a day of walking around the parks another 20 minutes back to a hotel can be a bit much.

Haven't done it in the DL area but I loved Uber when I was in Orlando, you could arrive at the park fresh for your MM.

We stayed at Best Western Raffles right by Homewood a few years ago and walked our magic morning day and it wasn't bad at all. We had two young kids with us as well. The Toy Story bus was great the rest of the time!
