walking distance/time

hi all,
iam staying at port orleans for 2 weeks over Halloween.I was wondering if anybody could let me know roughly how long it takes to walk from riverside down to french quater.I was thinking of walking to the French Quater in the mornings for breakfast and then catching the bus from their to the parks.Also is the walk very piqturesque?Thankyou for your help.

The walk was about 15 minutes. We have short legs! We walked there in June and never again during a hot summer day! But will stroll down by the river when the weather is right. It felt like forever getting there. The surrounding is nice.

depends upon which building at POR you are in - some would be 5 minute or less - other could be 15 minutes or more.

It is a very picturesque walk. We thoroughly enjoyed it, but we were not there in the heat of the summer!
