Just wondering what kind of distances a typical employee walks during a typical day. I know that it is going to be different depending on what role you have but i was wondering just in general. Like room, to bus, bus to clock in, work to break, ect. I worked at Cedar Point which is massive and i had about a 15-20 mins walk from my car to my ride, then another 10 min walk to lunch, and it was about 3 mins to walk to the bathroom. I lost a lot of weight even with my terrible diet.

Has anyone every experienced significant weight loss/weight gain while working at Disney?

I definitely did. I went down a pants size in my costume for sure, and I notice my jeans fit better than when I came down here. If anything, simply from standing all day (I work in Attractions) instead of sitting has done wonders, because I'm pretty sure I eat worse than I did in college (more hot pockets/ramen)

well it really depends on your role and where you work. I imagine someone like custodial would walk around more then someone in QSR, but everyone prob walks more then they realize. The Emporium is huge, so in walking from one end to the other multiple times a day I probably walked more then I noticed.

I'd say you end up walking more when you spend the day playing in the park. For instance I think it's about a mile around the world showcase. Plus you hvae to walk through the lines and walking from the parking lot or the bus stop.

I worked the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, and I lost a ton of weight. We use a moving turntable to load guests so we're constantly walking. They figure if we don't have to stop the ride it's about a mile an hour. We rotate around and the way the rotation used to be, we went from the greeter (standing), to unload (walking), to load 2 (walking) to load 1 (standing). Well we rotate around every 45 minutes or hour, and you get breaks every 2 or 3 hours. I started my day at unload, and got my break at load 1, got off my break and got someone else's break at unload, got my lunch when I got back to load 1, got off my lunch, back to unload... you get the picture I think. Literally walked about 10 miles in a 13 hour shift. I'm going to miss TTA so much when I go back down there and am only doing Main Entrance, haha I lost so much weight on my CP, but I put a lot back on as soon as I got home... :-/

I remember when my buddy and i were messing about in the parks we saw this attractions cast member walking on a conveyer belt helping guests load onto a ride. I cant think of the specific ride at the moment, but its like he was just walking on a treadmill. We were talking to him and he told us he lost 40 lbs since he got there. They rotate positions so you're not doing that all day, but still, i thought that was crazy how he lost all that weight.

I lost 20 lbs and im skinny to begin with. If you're not actively lifting weights while on your program you are going to come home looking like a twig. I ate cicis pizza and taco bell constantly as well.

Definitely plan on walking, for many reasons. Even if you have a car with you (which I did), you will most likely be walking from farther points in the parking lots because CP hours are often the closing hours, meaning you start in the afternoon. And the permanent cast members often work opening shifts, meaning that by the time you arrive, the rows are taken. In addition to this, your role location may be located in an area that is not directly outside of a mousehole (entry point), and so you will walk in the park some too, to reach it. Add this to your own personal excursions as you play in the parks, factor in the weather (I did Spring) and it got hot quick!-and you may find you lose some weight whether you want to or not. I was 12 lbs lighter when I returned home:)
