Walking Boot and Flying

I am scheduled for surgery the week after we get back from WDW so I will be in a walking boot. I already had wheelchair assistance set up aata both airports. What I'm concerned about it There's not a lot of room between seats and if I can't move my foot around enough I'm going to have a lot of pain. Even riding in the car can be a problem after about 20 minutes or so. Am I able to request the bulkhead seat or one of those comfort plus seats do to this for medical reasons?

What a coincidence my DW will be in a walking boot for our entire trip in Dec. and she had knee surgery right before our last trip 2 years ago. Great timing huh! So I know what you're going through It's going to depend on the airline you're on, but the only way you'll be assured of getting any relief is paying the extra for the better seats. We are flying Delta this time and the extra was $19 to $25. DW was surprised at what getting the aisle seat and the extra inches meant to her comfort last time. To her it was well worth the extra cost.

What airline will you be flying on? With SWA last month I just went up to the desk told them I have on a aircast and wanted to know if it would be possible to sit in the front row. They said no problem handed me a blue preboard card and you will be able to board the plane first.


GWB your wife will NOT have to take the boot off going through security. What they will do to her once she passes through the detector is ask her to step aside and they will run a pad over her boot. They then place the pad in a machine to test for drugs when it pass they will send her on her way. Took all of 30 seconds!!!

After I had hip replacement surgery in New York and then flew home to Orlando I splurged on a First Class seat for both the extra width and legroom. Also made sure to get an aisle seat.

As a pp said is correct they can't make you remove the cast. But will result in some extra screening but if it can and she wants to she can just inform the agent but dose not have to.
