What does "walking a reservation" mean exactly? And what is DVA? Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I still don't understand how walking is that much of an advantage. Its like the people who pay for the guaranteed seating with the Candlelight Processional Package and then stand in line for two hours anyway! Unnecessary.

Totally necessary for some dates and certain room categories. VGF studios first week of December come to mind, AKV Club any season, certain seasons of BWV Standard Studios.

Walking is a necessity for some rooms on certain high demand periods. If you want a grand villa at BW during first week in Dec. you will not get it unless you walk. Standard view studios are booked now and cannot start a walk until one opens up and they are gone every day when I check as I wanted to add one and so far have not found availability in two weeks of trying for first day. Luckily I have enough points to get boardwalk view instead but you are out of luck for standard view right now. People might walk thru and you can get later but not now. Most of the time you do not have to walk a reservation but a lot of old timers know when its a must if you do not want to be disappointed even at your home resort at 11 months.

Walking begets walking. If people weren't walking, then other people wouldn't need to walk. There are maybe 3 rooms types that "need" to be walked, and only for maybe 3 weeks out of the year.

Quick question-- is the 2nd week of December as sought after? Would it be difficult to get 5 days between Thursday-Tuesday? Due to a variety of reasons we are thinking Dec 7-12 this year, and would like a 2bd std at bwv. Was wondering if walking, if I can snag a room ahead of time, is necessary for these dates. I would vastly prefer not to walk... tia!

I agree with you but unfortunately, people are definitely walking the standard views at the BWV. (FWIW, I didn't have any trouble at all reserving my 1 bedroom standard without walking and those are still available).

If I wanted a 2 bedroom standard view for your dates, I'd try to walk. Might be very hard to get that first reservation as the first nights are disappearing right as the window opens. If I didn't get it, I'd check every few hours for the first few week or so and book whatever nights become available and waitlist the rest. FWIW, Boardwalk view isn't as popular as the standards, so if you have the points, you could still get that. Good luck.

I'm in the same suggestion, I want a reservation at BLT, 1 BR, standard for December 8 - 16, 2017 and really didn't want to walk. While I got online this morning at 8:30 (over slept this morning) and November 30th was already gone, but November 29th is still there. Today was the first day for November 29th and up to 7 nights. I figure if I can't get the standard view for the 8 nights then I'll take the lake view for 7 nights starting on December 9th instead.

Should I have walked this reservation? I was told I really didn't need too, now I'm wondering.

If you wait until the corresponding 11 month window for the 8th you will likely get the standard view. You were attempting to start a walk during the busiest time but even then one could likely pick up the dates they need as the walkers move past them. Personally I'd just be waiting for the window and then if it is booked up at that time I'd keep checking for the next week or so.

I would say that walking wouldn't be a bad idea. Here's the problem with BWV 2br's....all of them are lockoffs, if I remember correctly. This means you're not only competing with everyone looking for 2 br's, but also everyone looking for studios and 1br's as well. With a grand total of 37 standards to spread between all classes, during a high DVC demand period, it gets tight.

Thx. I booked at 8:01 this morning. By 8:03 they were all gone.....

This is for a 1bd std at blt?! Lake view isn't a crazy amount more... and if you ask for north tower even numbers you might get fireworks view on balcony.... we did :) a month ago....

The 2BR standards were actually all booked at a time when I looked in the past few days while the standard studios were available. The 1BR standard could just as easily be going towards making up some lock-offs.
