Hi everybody. I have been following the thread for awhile now, but I have just been so busy that I have never gotten around to posting. However, many of ya'll will be seeing me at the Half in my bright green WISH shirt, so I thought I should say hi.
I'm very excited about the half but very nervous at the same time. I am well above the 16 minte pace. I've been averaging about 16:34 on my long walks and 16:04 on my shorter ones. Also, I was ill a couple of weeks ago and now the kiddos are home from school and dh is out of town, so I haven't been able to get out in a couple of weeks. None of that is helping to ease my nerves. I was thinking of downloading some tunes with about a 140 bpm pace that I can use when I feel like I'm falling even further behind. Is that even allowed? If it is, do ya'll have any suggestions.
I pulled up the times from last year's half, and saw quite a few finishes that were over the 3:30 time limit. There were some 8 hour finishes, but I figure that was a problem with the chip. I did see 1 4 hour finish and some 3:45. Well, no matter. I will stay in it for as long as I can. I won't be stopping for pics or anything, but it'll give me something to shoot for for next year. Can't believe I'm thinking about 2009 already.
My family (dh and 2 dds -- 8 and 5) will be staying at the Yacht Club. We're arriving on Friday afternoon. We only have the reservations for 1 night, but I may extend it and try to stay and join the Scream Team for the Full. Dh can't stay the extra day, (He teaches Sunday School at church and doesn't want to miss another Sunday) and I doubt the girls would enjoy cheering with me; so I'm going to see if he'll bring them home with him and give me a night to myself. I love my kiddos, but a night to myself sounds so blissful right now. He's out of town right now, so I'll ask him when he calls. (he's an airline pilot, so he's out of town a lot.)
Anyway, that's about it, and I need to go break up the screaming match in the other room.
Talk to ya'll later.
