Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

Robert do you know if there is a host hotel in the values taht is giving a discount for the Minnie??? If I keep costs down I have a better chance to convince Mike we should do this.

Kim

Anthony travel is in charge of it and here is the link for the Minnie. They have some hotel only rates down the page.

I have heard nice comments about the Princess package as well.

I agree with Bill to look at resellers. I bought 2 point alloments through resellers when Disney wasn't licensed to sell in NV. I paid about $82 a point. ROFR prevents the value to decline. With resell you can buy any point allotment. Not just the 160 Disney requires. DVC work if you like to stay at higher end resorts.

The 160 points could get you a week for the marathon and a week for ToT in a studio. $3100 divided by 14 is like $212 a night. Cheap for the Boardwalk. Remember the have kitchens and other amenities that regular hotel rooms don't have. Matters to some and not others. We stay in 1 bd. It has full size kitchen, washer and dryer, jacuzzi tub, etc.

Most of my points are SSR(cheaper and 50 year) and have no problem making ressies at SSR 11 mo out and converting at 7 mo window.

Add: We just booked 3 nights at the Fairmont in Sonoma for a nice 3 day Veteran's day weekend getaway next Fri-Mon. We used DVC points(169) for the 3 nights. We need a getaway after Disney and this weekend :)

Jeanne, Darlin, my race info on the bottom is correct dear. Jan 2008 for the goofy and May 2008 for the Minnie.

OMG, I was wrong and you are right! (You may want to print this up and save it because it won't happen again :rotfl: :rotfl:)
I was thinking 08 was the date and not the year, but that doesn't make too much sense, does it? Guess I was just wasted as usual! :rotfl2:

I have been spending entirely too much time online lately (checking out TofT pics and the like).....even though I'm sleeping with the boss  , he ain't gonna be too happy when he sees how little I've done this week! :surfweb:

Darlin with your sweet smile and that mischevious look in your eyes I'm sure he would let you get away with anything.

We are staying at the CBR for the Jan events, we arrive on the 6th and check out on the 17th. Robert said we would be able to walk to the BW easily.

Good luck with your half that's coming up. Can't wait to see y'all again.

Dave--- The problem I have found at WDW with walking from place to place is the lack of sidewalks. I don't think there is any between CBR and BW.

Did 10 miles on the rail trail today. The highlight of the walk was the cow walking on the rail tracks. Apparently it decided to leave the nice green field and go on an adventure. It happened at mile 9 of my walk and was very entertaining. At that point anything would entertain me. It was 38 degrees when I started what a difference from last week at ToT.

I am so tired today, I think all those late nights from vacation are catching up with me. I hope that the extra hour of sleep helps.

Thank you UtraMic, is there a sidewalk or walkway? Are there shortcut service roads or anyhing, I'm assuming you and your lady have explored all around there.

Goofy Challanger Panda:hippie:

Dave, There are sidwalks from BW to the Fire Station. The FS is across the street from CBR. You might have a short part of walking along the road on grass. No problem for walking. Some of the easier walking to resorts.

I agree that most of WDW is lacking sidewalks.

That sounds perfect. We can walk over to the BW, eat breakfast at Spodles and then hang out with our buds. Yep, life is good.

We will probably need you to go with us once so we can make sure we are taking the best route.

I feel great today, anyone up for lunch at the Beer Garden and a big mug of Octoberfest?

Hey gang, well I think we are back to normal training. Got a 10K in today felt great. Mike is still having problems with his heels, he went to the DR and he just told him that he has to stretch it out so I hope that helps....cause Mike and I have decided to do a full marathon in Quebec City in August. Very excited and scared but it is on the way to same day doing the Goofy.....yipeee

Well off to get stuff done around the house before we sit and watch the BIG game today. Probably will be a blow out, whenever they talk about a game being huge it is always one sided but I have high hopes today. However, sorry Bill but I am cheering for the COlts today, I have a bet with the boss and he likes the Pats so I had to take the Colts.

Have a super day all

Kim

Kim--I'm glad to see that your poor financial investments take precedence over our cyber-friendship. Oh well.

LOL.....well it isn't a big financial investment, actually if I am going to commit a few hours to watching a NFL football game I am just hoping for a good one, dont want to see a defensive battle:thumbsup2

Back from the half and I am very pleased with my results; 3:01:45 with a pace of 13:53. I can't believe I had a sub-14 overall. They had no timers on the course so other than my watch, I had no idea of how well I was doing. I have a Garmin, but decided I didn't want to use it. It turns out that I pretty much stayed the entire course with some Galloway people that were doing a run/walk combination with a 14 minute mile overall. Everytime they ran, they would pass me and everytime they walked, I passed them. Best of all, I got to meet the elusive Wendy! Man, that lady can kick butt! In fact, we spent alot of time together during the last 4 or 5 miles, but mostly I was eating her dust! Funny thing is, the results are up and we came in one right after the other. Unfortunately they used gun time to place everyone and the results show that I beat her when her chip time was clearly a whole second faster than mine :thumbsup2 We didn't talk much (I learned my lesson at TofT yapping with Nancy!), but it was great to know that she was right by me.
The course was alot hillier than I anticipated. By the last mile or so, I was really hurting. I thought the event was very well organized. At about mile 11.5
we merged with the full marathoners. (We had all started together with a self-seed based on mile pace.) It was their Mile 24.5, so it was only the very elite runners and not a whole swarming pack. We had great food at the end. In addition to the usual stuff, they had pizza from Papa Johns and Red Oak Beer. I had 2 of each!
Oh and I almost forgot to mention....John did awesome again! he finished with a 3:13 something and his overall pace was 14:45! Truly amazing!
My son also did very well. It was his very first event and he finished about 2:15. Considering the boy never trained more than 6 miles, I think he did amazingly well.
Right now, I am a little sore. I plan to do the Victory Junction half-marathon in December at a nice easy pace since they have a 4-hour requirement. I'd like to do the first half of the Mickey at a 15-minute pace and then take the rest a little easier. Gotta go ice my foot where I had surgery 20 years ago.
Have a great Sunday everyone!

Awesome, awesome, awesome job, Jeanne!

Glad to hear the family did well, too. I already posted in a couple of threads how you had me for lunch (metaphorically speaking!) -- seriously, you kicked my can, lady! You should do so well at the Run to Victory! Can't wait to see you there.

I think we both did an excellent job! I was really hurting that last mile.....every slight incline seemed like a mountain to me. You, on the other hand, looked like you were going for a stroll in the park! I live in Raleigh, but never realized it was so hilly. How does the RforVJ compare with it? Hubby and I are going to do that one together as a practice session so we will take it relatively easy. And I will not be going out that fast for the Mickey....I need to conserve some energy for the 2nd half.
It was great meeting you....... and lady, you beat me fair and square, so I think YOU had ME for lunch!
I think we will both sleep very well tonight.

Jeanne, dang lady if you were hanging with Wendy you were smoking. That lady can rock. We have done a couple with her.

**Kim** Too bad about those Colts.;) Did your boss at least give you points? Sorry about the Raptors too. They did at least come back to tie it.

I confess to have a somewhat unreliable memory. (As my husband often says, "Has she slept since then? Then she won't remember.") However, my recollection of the RforV is that the hills are continual (as I've said before, you are either going up or down on that course) but the hills are not as long or steep as some of those in Raleigh. It is truly a "rolling" course. I wouldn't worry about it too much after yesterday's race. You seemed incredibly strong.

The biggest difference is you are out in the countryside the entire way until you hit the camp (which is amazing!). Think of it as a long training day, with water stops. :)

Congratulations again.

Good morning team!!!!

I have success to report, I lost 5 pounds last week.!!!!!!! Probably mostly to do with not drinking my pepsi but I will take it.

Jean and Wendy.....Congrats this weekend....wow you had the energy to do a 1/2 after being at Disney.....whewwwww WTG girls

Bill: Congrats on the win. Nope we don't do points but that's OK I won the last bet so all is good. Actually I care less about basketball then I do NFL football so I didn't even know we lost till I read your post....actually I didn't even know we where playing:confused3 :lmao: However, the leafs won, Agros clinched 1st in the east so life is good.

Less then 10 weeks till disney!!!!

So Wendy dear, did you think the Pig was rolling or hilly?
