All of the off-site vendors have problems from time to time. But the ones listed in the FAQ, which includes Walker, generally have excellent service. Don't forget that im many instances people are much more likely to post complaints than compliments.
I used them for many years before I moved down here. One time I had a problem but they were able to take care of it right away.
We rented from Walker for my Mother for 8 years and then I was unfortunate enough to need one and has been 9 years and have always had great service. Had one that did not charge and did go dead on me at DTD and Walker came there and traded it out for me. They always at resort when I get there and clean. I still lysol wipe them off but they look almost new. The longer you need the cheaper it is. February 2010 they were $30 per day and have rented for November 2010 and was told $30 first day then $28 for remaining 10 days
I agree with the other posters.
For ANY company, there are people with good and negative reports. The companies listed in the disABILITIES FAQs thread are ones that DIS posters have reported many more positive than negative reports over the years. I would feel comfortable renting from any of them.
Sometimes, a particular company will have some negative reports about old equipment and then a few weeks later, a bunch of praising posts saying the ECV was brand new.
Another important thing to remember is that sometimes renters return ECVs with problems that they did not report to the company. If the problem doesn't show up on the company's check before re-renting it, they may provide a 'problem' ECV to the next renter without ever knowing it.
It's also important to look at reports like the previous poster where a problem was found and the company dealt with it in a satisfactory way.
I have used them for most of my almost 15 trips and have nothing but nice things to say about them. They have the best customer service, by far of any of the companies I have ever contacted.
I have used Walker twice for a wheelchair for my DD while at WDW. We have had great service and will be using them again for our stay coming up in November.
6 yrs and 25-plus rentals with them and NEVER had a problem. Always friendly and helpful with reliable scooters. I have 2 week rental booked over Universal and Busch Gardens "Horror Nights".
I have been renting an ECV from Walker for about eight years (2-3 times a year). I highly recommend them! One in awhile there is a problem/an issue, but one phone and it is taken care of. On a recent trip the key broke in the ignition (my fault). The lady at Walker gave my husband an idea about getting the broken piece out - it worked. We used the spare key and off we went!

Well, now I don't feel so bad, that same thing happened to me, but there was no spare key, they had me go to Bell services at GF, where we were for breakfast, and get the spare key off a scooter they had delivered for another guest. I was really upset and they made me feel so much better, because it was meerly an accident. They have the best customer reps and they almost seem to "know" me now.
I had an issue with my ecv on our trip in June. Picked it up from resort, went to EPCOT and the problem got worse. I called Walker on the phone, explained the problem and the fact we were on our way to the Garden Grill for dinner. They had someone meet me inside the Land and swap out the ecv.
I've been renting from Walker for over 11 years and would never consider anyone else. I am thrilled they have expanded to Vegas and can't wait to rent from them there.
NOTE: I always request the older ecv's they have. I don't "take well" to change and can't tolerate the thought of something different than what I am used to. I know eventually they won't want to let those out for the public but they understand my issue and are always happy to make sure I get an older model.
