I can't get ADRs for any of the days we are in WDW.

On our last trip we were snowed in an extra night and were able to get into 1900 Park Fare as a walk-up (party of 5, 30 minute wait).

I'm mainly interested in doing dinner at Chef Mickey's on the night we arrive. Has anyone had an experiences with walk-ups?

I'm curious about both your success and your failures ;)

we did a last minute trip in September .......no ressies except for Crystal Palace at three thirty pm......we missed a walk up to Le Cellier on another night....we were behind a couple who lucked out and we didnt.......we were also able to get one walk up at Biergarten....
Hope you have fun and enjoy yourself too

I have had well over 20 trips to WDW and have seen MANY people turned away from rest. podiums because the rest. were full..... take this as an opportunity to try someplace new and not the old stand bys.... great time to be adventerous....

I would actually welcome that opportunity, but EVERYTHING seems to be booked within "normal dining hours." We have a 2 year old so eating dinner at 9:45 p.m. isn't an option. Thanks for your reply.

You can also try to keep calling. Soem people might cancel and that time opens up?

Walk ups are hit and miss type of deal.Disney holds back absolutely no table s for walk ups...so the only walk ups they take are usually because of no shows. It isn't impossible, but with a small child you may be limited to late lunches or real late dinner times.:goodvibes

I agree that walk-ups are hit or miss. I was down the second week of December and had a ressie at 50's Cafe and they had someone out side saying they were not excepting any walk-ups... but the next day when we were resting infront of France there was a number of people who walked up and they were showed a table within 10 minutes.

When are you going? Have you tried/considered the resort restaurants (like Olivias at OKW, Shutters at the CBR, Boatwrights at POR) sometimes those restaurants are easier to get ADRs

We had problems getting ADR's for our last minute trip, and I can tell you anywhere popular we were turned away for walk-ups. We tried some new places.

I'd suggest you do what we've done many trips with the kids. We ate at very off times for our big meal- like 3-4pm and as long as we let the kids have snacks, they held out fine and were hungry and ate well for the big meal of the day. You pay less for the lunch price too. Call back and ask if there is ANY availability for your favorites. Good Luck!

I usually always make reservations, I just may not do it till I get there. This last trip I actually made them before I went and got all the times I wanted...actually our wonderful agent at Dreams made the reservations for us. We were flexible with our times and I do think that helps. Thank you SueEllen. :)

Chef Mickey's is a very popular restaurant, so I would imagine getting a walk-up is difficult. I always make ADR's, but you could try. :)

When are you going? Do you have to eat during the main dinner hours?
You'll have a long wait at Chef Mickey (probably be turned away) if you have to eat at 6:00 pm. Can you skip lunch and do an early dinner, say 4:00 pm (then you can have a nice fattening dessert some where ~ 7:00 pm :thumbsup2 ). I rarely make adr's (my next trip is 5/2-5/11 and I only have 1 so far) but I rarely have to eat at any certain restuarant.
Character meals are notoriously hard to walk into, even I, the self proclaim Queen of no ADR's will make them if I want a character meal.

We "walked up" twice when my wife and I were there in late Feb. of this year. Once at 11:00 at Coral Seas and got a window seat and then the next day at 17:00 at Garden Grill second level. Its pot luck and we are fine with that. If we get in fine, if not fine. We did make ADR's for out anniversary meal at CC at the 180 day mark. Glad we tried CC but won't go back, two expensive and very noisy..smjj

This past December I was in Future World and called Dining about 11:00 for a Le Cellier lunch - completely booked solid, nothing available.

So I walked over to Le Cellier and they walk-up seated at least 10 people in different groups, including us.

I don't know what that really means, but walk-ups can be had. Maybe the key is showing up at opening vs. once things get rolling?

A walk-up for 1 or 2 people can usually happen if you don't mind waiting. BUT if you have more than 2 it will be difficult. I have a party of 10 going in April and we could not get into Chef Mickey's and I called 5 months before. If you can't get it - you could split up tables if you have a lot of people. That is what we have done for a few of our ADRs.

When it comes to walk ups, we have had both good luck and not so good. On a couple of occasions, we have walked up to Chef Mickeys for breakfast and been seated almost immediately. On a trip a few months back, we decided to try Ohana's last minute and wound up waiting for 90 minutes. Luckily there was a football game on so it seems to go fast. Hopefully you'll have luck on your side during your trip:thumbsup2

Sometimes when we have had trouble getting ADR's, we'll call Disney Dining while we're there from our resort phone, and there have been several instances where we got in. Keep trying to call, but don't give up... you can call a day ahead & you might get lucky ;)

Are you staying on-site? How many people for the reservation? If you are "flexible" regarding the time that you eat, stop by the Concierge Desk and see if they can hook you up. I usually don't make any ADR prior to going to the World and stop by Concierge on the way out and they have been able to accomodate me. They have gotten ADR's the morning of at Liberty Tree, Chef Mickey, Kona, Ohana's, etc. The only one that I have never asked them to look into was Cinderella's (not one that I want to do).
