Walk or boat?

We’re staying at the YC and I’m certain we will walk to Epcot but not sure about HS. We’ll be rope dropping and I usually get too impatient to wait for the boat in the morning.

How is the walk from the YC to HS for those who have done it?

It’s about a 15-20 minute walk depending on your pace. It’s not a hard walk as in hills, but the heat/humidity is typically looming even in early morning.

If you have no issues with walking long distances, like you, I prefer it over waiting for the boats in the morning. However, if you have some limits then it could be a challenge since you’ll be walking all over the park as well.

Typically, we walk in morning and take the boat back in the afternoon.

I would go boat all the way for YC to DHS. Unless you and everyone in your group really love to walk and so on. It's an easy walk, but we just prefer not to arrive hot, sweaty and tired to the front gates (depending on the weather on any given day). From BW, it's just that much closer that it often tips the scales for us to walk.

Walk in the morning and boat back is how we do it when we stay at the RPH at Universal. Seems like YC to HS is about the same distance.

We’ve stayed at YC once (will be there next year), and found either to work. As others said, definitely walk to Epcot. Maybe if the boat is there and loading I’d ride it, but it’s honestly just easier to walk.

HS is a toss up. I’d say boat unless you just miss it. Here’s our experience though. Our first morning we just missed the boat loading at YC so we walked. We beat the boat to HS. The next morning the boat was at boardwalk and heading to YC. We decided to walk again since it was quicker. Well the boat beat us that day. So not sure if something held it up the first day or if the second maybe it was full or something and didn’t go to swan/dolphin. The third morning we went to HS we just waited for the boat.

It’s a nice easy walk, but with so much walking already I vote for saving the mile on your feet. Like I said, I would maybe walk if we just missed it though because I’m not sure how quickly another would come.

It’s a little longer if my memory serves me correctly - or at least felt that way.

I always prefer to be under my own power and on my own timeline, so I generally choose walking to HS ... but it is mostly in the sun so if extreme heat like this past week (feels like 105+), I'd probably do the boat. Otherwise, I don't think the walk is bad at all. The boat is slow - and has stops.

Just chiming in with the others that it really depends on you. We walked it once and while it's a pleasant walkway, we will only take the boat now. Too far with all the miles we are already getting. Although after a long day even the walk to the boat from HS can seem like forever!

My last trip was in early May and we stayed at BCV. I wasn't a fan of the walk, my husband didn't mind it. We only did it once while the sun was up, but it wasn't so terrible at night.

I guess I'm the opposite of everybody else. I don't like the boat during the day especially if it's very hot out. It gets so stagnant inside the boat with a full load of people. I feel like I can't breath. There are some outside seats but I'm not a fan of inhaling diesel fumes. I do like the boat at night though because I think the path is kind of spooky in the dark.

Nothing like the smell of diesel fuel first thing in the morning with those outside seats.

We're often at BWV, which is a shorter walk, but our 1 stay at BCV, we still opted to walk in the AM. we want to make sure we're there extra early well before rope drop. I would compare it more to walking from Portofino to the parks at Universal, not RP. We used the bridge at S/D to meet up with the HS walkway. no idea if that saved time. If you luck out thought, and start out, and then see the boat at the dock, I'd likely take it, but it will also be stopping at the S/D before going to HS, just keep in mind.
