walk me through renewal process of ap

We have been sent something in the mail about renewing our ap. Does the year go off of when it expires (4/08-4/09) or when we activate them? We won't be returning to wdw until 4/09 so I am trying to figure out the best way to do that!

Renewals begin at the expiration of the old pass. You noted that you are not returning to WDW until 4/09. I'd wait til then and buy new AP.

There is no activation of renewals. They automatically renew at the expiration of the pass, just like JaxFlBear said. You are much better off just getting a new one when you need it in 04/09. Or buy a new one now, but don't activate it until you arrive for your next trip.
