Walk-ing Back to Disney! COMPLETED 10/16! A Fall 2014 PTR!

I asked several people about going to the party at 4 and they all tell me it will not count as a park day you don't have to have a park ticket to go to the party just your party ticket.....:goodvibes

Overall, I think the change in touring plans makes sense. A few things I'll mention:

*Be prepared for crowds on the 29th. It's EMH evening during a time of year where the park has parties on a lot of nights, so it will most likely be very busy until towards the very end of EMH (which I'm assuming you won't be at, due to DHS in the morning). Either stick to less-popular things or FP+ the evening.

*I'm wondering why you have DTD on the 5th after MK instead of the 1st after AK? Since AK closes at 5pm, you already have the evening free (and you have the next morning to rest also - or go back to DTD, I suppose). I would be hesitant to give up MK time for DTD.

*Regarding Crystal Palace, we've been twice for breakfast, both before park opening. I think that is one of the biggest benefits - being able to wander a nearly-empty Main Street and get family pictures without the crowds. Plus, the food is great too. We had a good time with the characters on our pre-kid trip, but I will say that Crystal Palace was probably the biggest highlight of our entire trip with Izzy. I think we may ALWAYS do a pre-park-opening CP breakfast from now on. Of course, we've never been to Chef Mickey's, so there's that...

*Yep, you don't need to use a day of your tickets if you use your party ticket after 4pm. My memory is that there's a separate entrance set up, so just make sure to use that and not use your regular admissions. That will be nice to have an extra park day at the end to go back to whichever you want a bit more of.

I think the new plans look pretty good! Overall, I think you will be happy you are doing a slower morning the day after MNSSHP. That would be my main concern.

Isn't it fun playing around with your trip plans?

:rotfl2: Maybe I've rubbed off on you since EVERY time you check our ptr we have new plans up....::yes::

I like the new plan. I agree though I think you should do DTD after AK and then you will have two days at MK!!! My fave part is that you did NOT change your party date...;)

Awwwweeessssoooommmmeeee!! :goodvibes

Oh! I should mention again that we actually have plans for late that evening. After AK we will be going to Hoop Dee Doo! Last time we went to HDDMR after our AK and the timing was just so perfect with AK closing at 5 and us getting to HDDMR by 6:15 that we thought we'd do it again!! Also, after the dinner show we thought we'd try to catch the tail end of the campfire sing along! I read it goes until about 8:30 and HDDMR was done by 8, so maybe we could make it? We also took a boat from Ft. Wilderness to MK to catch our bus after that, so it actually ended up being a late evening still!

Good to know!! I plan to book the Fireworks Dessert Party that evening, so at least we will have a nice reserved spot to watch Wishes from, and then I figure after that we can just walk around and do any rides that have short wait times, and I will get to book FP+ for late that evening too!! Because I don't know what time we will fly in I will most likely make all our FP+ pretty late. We actually probably will stay to the end or close to it, it's only until 11pm, and on our last trip we had nights that we didn't get to bed until 1am and the kids still did great getting up and to rope drop the next day!!! I figure since this is our first few days we will be riding high on energy and excitement too!! That's why I was planning on more rest towards the end of stay!

Does that make sense? What do you think?? I value opinions, and sometimes I don't know how my logic is panning out, lol!!

*Regarding Crystal Palace, we've been twice for breakfast, both before park opening. I think that is one of the biggest benefits - being able to wander a nearly-empty Main Street and get family pictures without the crowds. Plus, the food is great too. Sigh.... don't make me re-think again! JK! That's why I asked!! We like the idea of getting in the park early too, thats the only reason CP was on the list actually, but we are hoping we will be able to do that on our last full MK day bc we hope to book the BBB at the earliest time slot! So hopefully we will get those coveted non-crowd castle pics. I just can't bring myself to do 4 of our 8 table service meals as Breakfast buffets! And I really like the other 3 over CP... I am thinking this will be one to move to next trip. I did consider doing CP dinner instead of CM, but then Chris really really liked CM last time and wanted to go back, plus it's fun to ride the monorail and eat outside the parks some too.

I am glad to hear that you guys like it a lot, because, like CM, I have heard mixed reviews! Even though the kids don't watch Pooh, they know who he is and would still get a kick out of it, I'm sure.

I think the new plans look pretty good! Overall, I think you will be happy you are doing a slower morning the day after MNSSHP. That would be my main concern.

I agree! I had actually come up with a plan to just sleep in the next morning and do a park later in the day, but that is still pretty early on in our trip, and honestly, last time we had nights that we didn't get back to the room til 1 am and we still had no problems getting up and at 'em the next day. We are all good about getting up early, our issue is we would sometimes start to drag towards the end of the day. That's the only reason I thought MK day after MNSSHP might be okay. We will have to leave MK by 7 for the party again anyway, and we can leave even earlier if we prefer. Then we can go swim, or go to bed early or whatever we like.

Isn't it fun playing around with your trip plans?

Hahahahaha....:rotfl:

Playing around- yes, tons-o-fun! Changing my entire spreadsheet- not so fun!

:rotfl2: Maybe I've rubbed off on you since EVERY time you check our ptr we have new plans up....::yes::

:rotfl2: This is true!!!

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Love the new plans.. AS for the Poly i have been hounding the threads, along with the construction thread.

Looks like Capt Cooks will be open for us in Sept. which of course will be open to you. The nanea pool will be closed, there is a possibility the quiet pool will have a slide.
Nothing is said about Ohana (yet) the GCH there is much debate on whether it will be back to 'normal' in Sept too.. just have to wait and see. :confused3

I have questions out there wanting on replies on the poly. I jsut don't know what to do about it.. stay or move.. Just don't know...

ANYWAY.. there is back to back MNSSHP?!? .
HS deserves a full day. LOVE THAT PARK!!! can't have a AK day on your late morning days since it does close early need to get everything in there you need since your doing a one day! We usually do AK in the morning then head back over to HS... :thumbsup2

Sigh, I think I need to just chill on my plans for a bit and wait it out until the actual calendar gets released! I just checked out Easy WDW calendar against Touringplans and they do not match up! Blahhhh... :crazy2:

I've decided to not stress about it and just wait!! Currently the WDW site has released through September 2nd's hours, so only like a month longer to wait! :rolleyes1

At that time, I am fairly certain I will be changing things around, again! :rotfl2:

Glad to hear that!!!! GREAT news on Capt Cooks!!! :woohoo:

Hopefully you won't have to move! That would stink, but we just have to remember at least we'll still be in Disney, right!? Anywhere there is the happiest place on earth!

Yea, on the back to back MNSSHP, at least that's what the crowd calendars predict, but who really knows. I am just going to stop making changes to my plans until the official schedule is released, I've decided. There's no point when everything can be different anyway, right??

This is going to be a long month!

I agree on HS, that park is the bees knees, for sure!! :thumbsup2

::yes:: we will be in DISNEY!!! what's better then that?? posting a huge post on this in a few minutes...

I cannot agree more. These dates are very crazy. i get they were given to the TA's.. why hasn't touring plans done theirs?!?!

still waiting i still need at least a game plan... plus our trip companions are still not helping with the planning... :crazy2:

I am sort of in the same place.... nothing is matching up!!!

I think either of your plans look good although I do agree it'd be hard to get up early after MNSSHP the night before.

I found September hours. I don't know I it's anything different then what you saw, but here's a link

I have it saved on my phone and often study it longingly!

I will be heading to your report soon to see about this post!

Well the one's from easywdw are most likely correct, maybe touringplans just hasnt updated theirs? If so, it stinks because we will be going to DHS on a day it closes early, but it shows they will still have fantasmic, so maybe thats no biggie, I can't decide.

Thanks, I have been pouring over them, stinks only two days of my trip fall in september, I REALLY want the October hours!!!

Thanks for your comments and encouragement, especially about posting my own PTR. Didn't even think about it until you mentioned it. Just don't know if I'll be able to keep up like everyone else when they do TR's. Will definitely think about it. & let you know.

Forgot to tell you that I have the "basket" on the floor of my closet's corner.

Super frustrating when the hours have not been released yet!!!

I like your idea to hit CM for dinner (I think your DH might still be able to get Fruit Loops for dinner :lmao: ) and skip CP for the early morning, especially if you can get into the park early for BBB. Early morning is best used for park exploring, IMHO. I think this might be the case if FP+ is still limited to 3 FPs in Oct, especially in MK. You will need to make the most of the smaller crowds - although with 1,2,3s on the crowd calendar it might not be of as much concern.

I love your idea to go to HDDR on your AK day and I know you guys make the most of your park time. I'm still amazed at how much you got done at HS on your last trip.

I like going to MK on party days because the crowds tend to be thinner and we either try to go to CM on a party night (we usually just walk over if the weather is nice) and then take the monorail back and stop at the GF for a little shopping. We have also done an ADR around 6 or a bit later in the park on a party night. The park does start to get busy in the early evening as early party go-ers arrive and day visitors are still in the parks so keep that in mind.

It will be a bit tricky to see Wishes and the night time parade during party season since they are only shown on nights when there is no party (obviously) and some days are EMH so it makes it a little hard to plan for the best crowd days and still get to see everything you want. I can't wait to see the new nighttime parade at the MK, I was getting a bit bored with the MS Electrical parade - I think it was the same one we saw as kids in 1980 :scratchin

The early closing times that come with fall work good for kids and me since I'm not a night owl and with the low crowds you can get more done during the "shorter" park day without having to worry about burning the candle at both ends.

Hopefully Oct will be posted soon, only a few more days until March....

You're welcome! ;)

I hope you do start one, its such a good way to talk about your plans and get excited, even if you don't post often and don't do pictures you will still get feedback, it's so fun! ::yes::

My basket is in my closet now too! :thumbsup2

AGREED! :headache:

LoL on the fruit loops!!! :rotfl2: I'll have to mention that to him, it will only seal the deal further!

I agree with EVERYTHING you just said!! :cutie:

It still amazes ME!!! :lmao:

But this time we will have to rider swap a lot, so I anticipate that in our plans. But I've thought a lot about HS, it was one of my fave parks, we had the best day there. But in thinking about our plans this trip I bumped us down from 2 days there to just 1 because I don't anticipate us having to meet all the characters again, the ones I KNOW the kids want are the Disney Junior ones, but were doing the breakfast before park opening. So unless we see someone with a super short line we probably wont do many M&G's that day. As for shows, we don't feel like we have to go back to any that we saw the first time aside from the DisJunior one. If we go, we go, but its not a priority. And then rides...theres really only like 4 that are important to us. So overall I think we will be able to get through the day there no problems this time too. I didn't think 2 days would be needed, I think the extra day in MK is better for us!

Eeeee! Glad to hear you say that! That is EXACTLY what I am hoping for!!! We will be there ready to go at rope drop, and I know we can get a lot done in those few morning hours, then I figure well have lunch and then do our FP+ and then we are free to explore or leave after that. The more I think on this plan the more I love it. I hope I don't have to do too much switching when the schedule comes out!

Yea, hopefully we will see Wishes on our first night we get in, we plan to book the dessert party and that is our only thing that night we have to do, anything else is just a bonus! Also, our last night should have a FULL MK day. So hopefully we get to see the night parade.

We never got to see MSEP last visit and it bums me out. I thought Festival of Fantasy was replacing Celebrate parade, the day one. Is it replacing MSEP?? I didn't know that, if so!! That'll stink only bc we haven't seen it before. :worried:

This is true!! We tend to get a lot done in the AM and drag in the PM so I think this will work great for us too, I am soooo excited to see!!!!! :hyper:

Hopefully Oct will be posted soon, only a few more days until March....

FINGERS CROSSED!!

Oh my goodness!! I just posted my first post on my first PTR (thanks to you!!! I was so inspired!) might be easier to find under my username: pepe3penelope. :)

Oh yeah, I think you are right. That new parade looks really cool, I guess when I saw some of the previews of the floats I assumed it would be at night because they seem so dramatic. Bonus that they will have the Festival of Fantasy and MSEP.

Maybe I'm right, not 100% but hopefully!

I am loving the PTR! I am reading through your last TR and I love all the details!

I haven't been to Disney since I was in elementary school! We're going for our first family visit with our 3 boys (they will be 4, 2, and 1.5 on the trip) October 19-25. My parents are coming along with us as well.

I think I'm going to start a PTR just to have a place to gather all my ideas and talk things out (since my husband is not into Disney planning at all).
