Walk-ing Back to Disney! COMPLETED 10/16! A Fall 2014 PTR!

Well today I ended up being sort of productive! I finished our first set of shirts for our trip!!

These feature the infamous Yeti, specifically based off our poof-ball, squishy Yeti we bought on our last trip, and will be worn to Animal Kingdom. I still haven't decided if we will just wear these to Hoop Dee that night, or if I will make some shirts just for that dinner....

Anyway, here's the final product! I apologize for the bad quality, I snapped these before bed real quick with my phone instead of my camera! ;)

I've done the tutorial on how to make this type of shirt before on my first TR, but I will go ahead and post a quick one here too...

-So first off you have to make a design on WAX PAPER and cut it out. Sorry I didn't take a pic of my drawing before I cut it out! :confused3

-You then iron on your wax paper cut out, with the waxy side DOWN onto your tee:

-Next you use FABRIC PAINT and a SPONGE BRUSH to DAB the paint all over, until you reach the desired coverage.

-Next, CAREFULLY peel off your wax paper stencil, and then allow the shirt to dry fully!

- Finally after drying, if you need to paint any more details, like I did with the Yeti's eyes, you can do that and then, again, allow to dry fully.

This method works AWESOME for any silhouette shirts! I plan to use this method with most or all of my shirts this time because its fairly simple and cheap to do and it LASTS! I still wear my shirts from last time! It almost has a screen print feel to it, and just may fade a bit with time. I only used black paint last time, so this will be my first time trying different colors, but I think they will hold up just as well!

I already bought shirts to do a kissing Mickey and Minnie shirt for the hubs and I to wear on the day the girls wear their Princess dresses, so I think those will be the next ones I do sometime this week!

In other news, we watched the DCL dvd we got in the mail tonight, it got us a little more pumped for the trip, and we are wanting to try the cruise maybe 2015 or 2016...we shall see.... we may want one more trip back to WDW before doing a cruise. Or maybe a combo trip!?!? ::yes::

love the yeti shirt!! so super cute (only to be rivaled by maddie's absolutely adorable chubby baby legs! I miss those!)! when you do those shirts, do you just use the same paper cut out for each (will it stick again and again?)?
you did awesome!

oh, and I vote for cruise 2015 in October--cuz that's when we're going and maybe we could cruise together!!

Haha! I do LOVE those chubby leggies too!! But they are fading fast!!! :sad1:

No, I make a separate cut out for each shirt. You wind up getting a lot of paint on them and I think you'd have a hard time re-using them! Though they probably would still stick again. I usually make a template on cardstock to trace on the wax paper so they all look the same. I have to make two though, because the kids shirts are so much smaller they need smaller versions of ours!

Wow! I didn't know you were planning the cruise! I am torn because I would really like to experience Christmas at WDW too before starting to venture into other Disney vacations, but I suppose it will all depend how this trip goes!

Yep--the cruise was supposed to be our next disney trip but then we decided to go again for our anniversary too. We are planning on doing one sometime in October 2015 for a couple reasons. It seems that Hannah usually has a few days off school at some point for conferences or teacher training or something so she'll miss less school. And, I really want to do the Halloween party on the ship--it looks like SO much fun! October is also a cheaper time of hear to go, so that's always a bonus! :thumbsup2 I'm so excited and so crazy about Disney that I actually talked a friend and her family into going with us. I can't wait--it's going to be so much fun!

FUN! As usual - your newest shirts turned out fantastic!!! I am still bummed that mine didn't turn out when I tried them, I still want to try them again - but bleach and I don't usually get along too well. Sigh.

The girls are adorable and growing so quickly!

D~

i cannot tell you enough in how adorable your girls are!!! I cannot believe how BIG Maddy is getting! :scared1:

as always your shirts came out PERFECT!!! I cannot wait to try something like this.

CONGRATS ON BOOKING!!!! :worship:
and bigger congrats on PAYING IT ALL OFF!!! That's HUGE!!! we still haven't even gotten ours done! :rotfl2:
Wonderful Olivia had a wonderful birthday. She deserves it! All kids deserve a magical birthday!!!

Oooh! FUN! I didnt know about special holiday events on the ship, I've only just begun to research all that!

Love the yeti shirts o cute! And sounds easy to do I might have to try it.:cool1:

Thanks! And they are super easy!

Well, the bleach ones are a bit harder to do, because theres a fine line between leaving the bleach on long enough to bet bright and not too long that causes holes! I had many trial and error with that method, but finally nailed it. These are much more fool-proof!

I know, she is getting big! She is almost completely out of that baby stage! She has begun speaking SO much and even talking in short sentences, its awesome and sad at the same time for me. I think she is really going to enjoy this trip though, she totally knows we are going, and gets so excited when we watch the Disney planning shows and stuff!

Thanks for all the congrats! It does feel good! Only thing we still need is our airfare. We usually fly southwest because they have non-stop flights from here to there, and no other carrier does out of our airport. Sadly they only have flights released through early August right now so we will have to wait a bit to get the flight booked. But thats ok! The main part is paid and that feels GREAT!

YETI!!! I love them!!! I am planning on doing this method to make some castle shirts. I was gonna have them screen printed but at $210 for 6 shirts.....ummmmmmm.....:scared1: soooo diy it is

aaaaah, baby's growin up!!! so sad....but super exciting too. Are you guys planning to have more? We just wanted two so now every time Evie finishes a stage I get kinda sad :worried: Luckily two of my best friends have babies so I get my fix in a little :goodvibes

I love the shirts, I might have to try them for one of our trips. My kiddos love to all match and its hard to find matching items in 4 different sizes (from big girls to infants) and that look OK on both genders. Making my own would be so much easier!

I am not sure what is cuter, your shirts or your models! Love it all! Yeti shirts are very creative for AK, good idea.

If you look on the Disney cruise line website, they have holiday cruises for Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I think the Halloween one looks so fun (plus its DHs fave holiday and we never travel too much over Christmas because my mom visits us then). They have characters in costumes, show nightmare before Christmas and then have a m&g with jack and Sally, trick or treat, have activities and storytelling--it just sounds like such a good time. I think most of the cruises also have a pirate night too where you can dress up and do pirate things.

We've never cruised before, but I think we're going to be loyal Disney cruisers if we like it!

This method is REALLY easy and would work wonderfully for a castle shirt! FYI I buy a lot of my shirts off Jiffyshirts.com they are cheap and ship fast, and its easier to find the varying sizes all in the same color. Sometimes I buy them at Hobby Lobby too.

Not planning on any more biological babies for us! But we have a heart for adoption and would like to adopt an older child one day, like school aged maybe? So I think (unless God tries to play a joke one me) we are done with baby stuff for good. I too have a close friend who just had a baby though, so I get my fix with her!! :)

I feel your pain! Jiffyshirts.com is where I order most mine! I always look at the infant/toddler sized first, because they have the least color available, and then I match the bigger ones to those! This method really is super easy, and one bottle of that paint made ALL our shirts from the last trip, which was like 20+ and there is still paint left over! Plus, I got it half off the $5.99 price at Hobby Lobby with a coupon!! So a REALLY cheap way to do shirts!!

Thanks! I was really trying to come up with something besides the safari looking shirts you find, because we did that last time! The yeti will be so fun to wear around!

That's VERY good to know! It doesn't surprise me at all, Disney is so awesome. I'm with you, I know once we try it we will continue to keep going back! I like the idea of not having to be so "go, go, go" with our vacation on the cruise, getting to dress up a little, and doing the spa!! I can't wait!

Hey fellow disney addict!!!!! I too am planning a trip to disney on November 14th to th 22nd! I am glad to see I am not the only over planner! My DH says that I am going to take some of the mystery out of the trip by planning as much as I am lol. I am staying at aoa cause we have a family of 5 and them and all star are the only ones that have rooms in our price range and asm is doing work on their food court on the dates we are going so aoa it is :confused3 . SOOOOOOOOOO excited for this trip :) my 3 year old keeps seeing commercials about disney and yells look mommy look disney world!!!!!!

For anyone who didn't notice, Jiffyshirts.com is the site I posted that I buy many of my tees from for cheap! :)

HOLY COW those shirts are CHEAP!!! Thank you for posting the site!!!

You're welcome! The only thing that stinks is paying shipping, so I do large orders at once usually. I've never had any issues with them and all our shirts have always fit well! ;)

Hello!! Welcome!

My hubby felt the same way on our last trip! He thought I was wayyyyy over planning. But once we got there and he saw just how well things went off without a hitch and other families who were not so lucky he quickly became a believer in crazy planning! And trust me, there will still be SO MUCH MAGIC, even with all the planning! He'll see! This time the hubby's even been getting involved with the plans! It's so funny when well be out shopping or something and he remarks on something we should buy for Disney or something, lol!

I think you'll love AoA! For a value it felt way nicer! Everything was just so new and perfect! The food at AoA is amaze-balls too! Bonus there!

My kids are the same way! It's funny how many Disney commercials there are! You don't notice them until you're taking a trip there and suddenly you find yourself riveted by each one...

Are you staying in a LM room? Do you have daily plans yet? I just love hearing others plans!

Yeah for having your trip booked and paid in FULL!!! Now its all the fun stuff.

The Cinderella hat and the Snow White dress are so cute. I too can not believe how big Maddie is getting. :scared1: They look adorable all dressed for the Rodeo.

Love the Yeti shirts, you are so creative and always do such a great job on your t-shirts.

:yay:

No plan yet but I know of a few places we want to eat. Trex, rainforest cafe, tusker house, whispering canyon cafe, kona cafe, sanaa and ohana. We are staying in the cars suite and couldn't be happier!!
