probably not the right area, but there is Strep in one of my sister's kids classroom and she is wondering where to go for treatment if her child should come down with it while we are at Disney.

TIA

Call Walgreens, they take appointments. DD was in and out in a few minutes with strep test, instructions and her medication.

This after she went to the Florida Hospital Care Center just outside DS where they wanted a $400 deposit on her bill to see her.

If she goes to care center make sure she gets in writing charges, Florida Hospital has no issue ripping off tourists.

Our first trip we did Walgreen's clinic with 6.5 year old twins. High fever and double ear infection. Last trip, DH was there with a bad sinus infection. Good experience for all three of them :). Hoping it isn't my turn on our next trip -- LOL!

We used Doctors on Call when my DS ended up with a staph infection on his lip at WDW a few years back. They come right to your resort room. We then had his prescription delivered from the pharmacy to the resort. It was very convenient. http://www.doctorsoncallservice.com

Ask at your resort lobby. They told my husband where to go and how to get there when he got sick. I don't remember it being any more expensive than a typical emergency walk-in clinic. I'm sorry I don't remember where they had him go but I would assume they recommend the most convenient option to all guests. Hopefully no one will need it!!

Lake Buena Vista Centra Care is just outside Disney Springs, and offers free transportation to/from the resort. Costs were covered by my insurance and they had the prescription ready when I walked out.

thanks everyone, hope we won't need any medical care but nice to know there are options

Another nod for the Walgreens Clinic just outside of Disney Springs. Quick and efficient and we didn't even have an appointment.

Another vote for the Walgreens clinic! So fast and easy to get appointment and prescriptions for a sinus infection this past summer.

I recommend everyone check into their insurance coverage to see if they now support an online doctor. My company originally used Sheerpa as a benefit for working with them, and now we just changed and blue cross offers something (but I haven't looked into the details). They are amazing, if you have an ailment that doesnt' really need a doctors visit but may need a prescription to cure, you can video conference with them with minimal wait from home. they can call in certain prescriptions for you and combine it with a pharmacy that delivers and it's just amazing. I first tried it when my doctor wasn't opened and after that, we've started to consult with medical help long before we would say it's time to head to the drs.. friday nights, sunday afternoon. no expensive appointments for minor ailments.

I bring this up because I know sheerpa does have doctors licensed in florida so while in town, I could use for help from the resort to get their medical opinion before taking the time to visit the clinics nearby (without a copay cost) and may not even need to go. Turner drugs in celebration is the pharmacy that disney would tell you will deliver to them. They won't process your insurance but they drop it off at the resort (and disney pays them so you don't need to be there) and then you just claim them from the front desk and you pay disney. I needed to use them in 2014 when we extended a stay and needed to get more medical that my daughter takes to stay in the area longer. I also use them now as my normal pharmacy now that we've moved here since they are the local pharmacy that delivers where I live. It comes with all the paperwork you need to get reimbursed by your medical coverage if your not from the area.

If anyone plans to recommend this type of service to their employer to look into and add to your benefites, it actually lowered the medical plan costs as many visits went away for the lower cost online, no copay. It really saved both the company and employees money and worth HRs time to research more. Also the amount of sick days dramatically reduced as people would get help sooner than without it on days and overnight when they normally coulnd't get help right away (making the ailment much worse by the time you get to the dr). Also personal days for people who had to take sick children to the dr reduced (and they used the work from home option) to care for them with no lost hours).
