Hi, all. I am thinking of making a reservation for Beaches and Cream on our Epcot day in October. How far is the walk from Epcot to the restaurant? I will have three little ones (including a stroller) and my 65 year old mom with me. Do you think it is "worth it" to leave Epcot to enjoy some ice cream sundaes here? What would be the quickest way to get back to the Poly after our meal? Thanks!

If you exit near France in the World Showcase...it should be about a fifteen-minute walk tops with the little ones and mom to Beaches and Cream. Is it worth it? Can't answer that because we're going our first time in June. Certainly is nice to see the resorts on and near the Boardwalk. I have found that sometimes it's just easier to grab a cab or Uber back to your hotel in these circumstances. Go direct from A to B without having to change buses, etc. Have fun whatever you decide!

It is a very short walk. There is a small, steepish hill coming out of Epcot. It is not too big of a deal. My Mom & Uncle were fine with it. Beach & Cream is wonderful. All kinds of ice cream sundaes. I am odd and like an order of piping hot, fries with my sundae. Theirs are fresh and delicious. You're Mom will love the "old school" soda fountain feel.

It really does depend on your 3 little ones and your mom, and how they are with walking. Normally this would be a 15 minute leisurely walk, but I am only 61 and have mobility issues. I still do that walk, take my time, and i'd say 30 minutes at the most as i need to rest at least once. It's a really pleasant walk if you don't hurry.

The food at B&C isn't very good, IMHO, but it's a very cute restaurant and the sundaes are good. It's also fun when the kitchen sundaes come out and the sirens flash! If you are just looking for good ice cream, the ice cream shop in the France pavilion has far superior ice cream (B&C only serves Edy's), but they don't have big sundaes. If you don't want to use Uber to get back to Poly, you could also boat to DHS and get the bus to Poly from there or take an MK bus from BC and then take the monorail or boat back to Poly.

I am not a big walker, especially when my feet hurt after a long day at Disney, so I'd lean towards the 15 minute walk as being more accurate than the 5 minute walk! Honestly... it's just ice cream. We like the food and ice cream just fine, but it's nothing I'd hike out of my way to experience. If you don't want to get a cab/Uber back to the Poly, you could take the boat over to Disney Studios and a resort bus from there. It's actually a nice "cruise!"

There is flat walk way along the water coming out of Epcot. We have used it going to BC/YC so you can avoid most of the hill. I agree with using a taxi/ Uber to go back to Poly

In case you decide you don't want to do that the ice cream at the shop in France is really good! :)

Question: isn't it possible to take a boat from EPCOT to the Beach Club?
The boat from Epcot goes first to Boardwalk and then to Yacht Club, from which you would then have to walk to B&C. It will take much, much longer than simply walking to B&C from Epcot's International Gateway.

This is pretty much true (if you're a very slow walker, the time might be the same). But if you have mobility problems or simply need to rest your feet, the boat is the way to go!

I never recommend Disney water transportation to get anywhere. Their unofficial motto must be - taking 45 minutes to get you where you can walk in 10.

I also don't know if ice cream is worth that much of a trek for the group mentioned in the original post. We love Beaches & Cream. It is my husband's #1 restaurant on property (?) and is in the top 5 for both of my kids. However - we schedule it so that we are eating on our way into or out of Epcot. And we either have my car or a rental, so we are not waiting for a bus to get there. I would say to grab a mini kitchen sink sometime when you are on Main Street. I am a walker - I would do it no problem. But - some in my party would not find the extra steps to be worth it.

Thanks for the replies about the boat! Walking it is! :) although I actually do really like the water transportation in WDW, and consider the boats an attraction. On our last trip we stayed at PORS and absolutely loved taking the boat over to (then) Downtown Disney. But it's good to know that's not the way to go if we're rushing to get to our ADR. Thanks again! :thanks:
