Hello. I am traveling to the Anaheim convention center in February for a conference. I am traveling alone and staying at the Marriott. Am I able to walk(safely) from the hotel to Disneyland? Thank you!

Yes I did it in Sept and I stayed at the Red Lion which is just across the street. You could also walk into the Toy story parking lot and hop on a bus. I did that most days!! It was great. The parking lot is on the same street as the Marriott but you have to walk to the middle so it might take you 5min where it will take you 15min or more to walk to Disney. Or walk there and ride the bus home.

When you say "hop on a bus," do you mean the tram? Did you ever take the ART shuttle? I, too, will be staying at the Marriott in a few weeks and wondered about getting to Disneyland.

The Toy Story lot are buses, and actually travel the streets heading over to the parks. We actually perfected them our last trip since the walk from buses to front gate was shorted to the front gates then the tram to Mickey & Friends parking lot.

You can also do the ART from that location. I am not sure that Disney actually approves of guests not paying to park in their lot walking in to catch the buses. We never asked, and it is not posted,

Thanks! I hate to be dense, but I've never done this before and I don't get how you do it. I think I'll have to look on a map because I don't even know where the parking lot is!

It's simple. I'm at the Marriott for a convention currently.

Turn right out of the hotel lobby. Follow the sidewalk to the intetsection. Cross the street- Convention Way (the street the Marriott is on) turns into a private drive for the Disneyland parking lot. On the opposite side of the street as the hotel, there will be a pedestrian entrance to the parking lot. This is the Woody section of the Parking lot.

Follow the signs on the light post to the shuttle loading area. Lot attendants will direct you to the proper loading area (sometimes they only load from buzz/Jess)

I'm fat, out of shape, and have a sprained ankle and its been roughly an 8 minute walk.

You can walk straight to the parks from the resort, but as a single mid-20s female I perfer taking the shuttle back to the lighted lot after dark.

stargazertechie quick question. Are the busses in the Disneyland parking lot free? We are making our first trip there in June and I too wondered about busses. How are these busses different from the ART bus system? Thanks for any insight you can share.

Yes, the buses from the Toy Story lot are free (because they're primarily intended for people who have paid to park there).

They are different from ART because they only go back and forth between the Disney-run Toy Story lot and the DLR entrance plaza. ART is like a mini transit system with multiple lines that stop at most of the area hotels. And it's not free. Both ART and the Toy Story lot buses drop off/pick up in the same general area on the east side of the entrance plaza.

With ART you may have multiple stops at other hotels before you get to yours or to DLR depending on which way you're going.

They are buses in the Toy story lot and they had no problems with me getting on the bus. I just had to walk to where they were loading. From the Red Lion it took me 5 minutes.

Thank you so much!!! Sounds pretty simple and perfect for us. I appreciate all the help!

Another question about taking the Toy Story bus: when you want to return to the hotel, what do you do? Is it hard to get back over there at closing time? This is Thurs, Jan 10 so not predicted to have high crowds.

There may be long lines if you leave at closing time. The lines do move fairly quickly, but if you are tired or it's late, the last thing you want to do is stand in another line.

Thanks! We have a reservation at BB at 6:30, so we will be pretty close to closing time (8) by the time we are through and walk back to the entrance.
