I am trying to figure out a memory brick that was bought many years ago. I have googled the info I was given, but, once there, I was told that the site is no longer available.. I am going to Disney World in a couple of months and I want to touch that brick..Thank you for any help you are able to give me:cool1:

Go to the guest services window outside the Magic Kingdom. They can look up your brick and tell you the location.

Thank you so very much!!! I will do that as soon as I get there:) Enjoy your day now that you have put a smile on my face:)

How specific are they about where the brick is? I know ours is at TTC, but I'm not sure exactly where, and that's a pretty big area. The last few times we were there we were unable to find it.

My finance just asked about this on our trip last week. We went to Guest Services in MK and they were able to tell him the approximate location and the brick number. Unfortunately, we were never able to go search it out as we had to return home early due to a death in his family. Good luck!

Way back when we bought ours (I believe in '96) they sent a certificate and a map. We have gone to visit our brick 4 out 5 times since we got it. I take a picture of my boys with the brick on each of the visits. Ours in on the pathway alongside the monorail.

What kind of information do they need to look it up? My MIL said they have one somewhere at the Poly but they don't know where. I'd love to look it up and surprise her with finding it.

A few years ago on one of the Disney discussion boards, there was a post that generated a ton of debate.

It was from a woman in her 20's.
See and her young husband had bought one of the engraved bricks in "The Walk Around the World" near MK.
Then, within the year, as I recall, they broke up.

She was adamant that Disney needed to REMOVE that BRICK!
She did not want to be associated with her Ex on that brick.

The back-and-forth arguments from posters got heavy and heated.

AFAIK, the brick is still there. :goodvibes

I managed to dig up the certificate with our brick number, but there was no map. We bought ours is '98 (wedding present to my husband, 15 years later I fortunately do not want it removed!) so maybe they stopped the maps by then. They ended up moving our brick anyway, it originally wasn't at the TTC, I forget where it was, but that's where they moved it to.

I have a picture of the brick, but it's just the brick, so no way of figuring out where it is based on surroundings. I won't make that mistake again!

Information on the bricks can definitely change. Ours has the city we lived in in 1996 when I bought it but we moved a year later. There was also a coworker whose brick was near mine (what are the odds!!!). I know for a fact that he and his wife divorced and yet their brick still lives on.

Since they moved your brick, that may make it difficult for Disney to look it up. On our third visit to our brick, I forgot our map so we knew the general area but it took about a half hour to find it. My boys (teens by that time) were very disgusted. I took a lot of pictures of the surrounding area and had them on my cell. When we went a few years later (again without the map) we were able to find it in minutes by looking at the cell pics.

GS should be able to give you (or at least show you) a map with a general grid area. The serial numbers, while not sequential, do stay in general groups so hunting for the brick shouldn't take long once the area is narrowed down.

As for getting a brick changed, we were actually lucky & had ours changed without losing our original spot in front of MK. We did try for years (had to add a child's name) & were consistently told no because something to the effect of Disney no longer having a contract with the company that made the bricks. Flash forward several years & WDW opened up the purchasing option for a very limited time. I called right away & was able to get ours swapped out . Timing was everything.

I have the brick number for the new location, so I'm hoping they'll still be able to locate it. I definitely plan on better pictures! The last time my kids (4 and 7 at the time) were ok with looking for it for a while but then got bored with it so we gave up.

My wife and her family have a brick. It's on the walkway that goes towards the GF but ends at the canal. We have visited it a few times on our trips to WDW. Almost all of the black for the names and date has been sand blown off so we always take a black sharpee with us to try and fill it in a little. Can't tell the difference between the sharpee and what they used on the names/date anyways.. :)

Here is a link to their brick. Obviously before we "fixed" it.
