Has anyone ever found coupons to use on top of the free after rebate items at Walgreens? I've gotten the stuff the last two months and not sure why I haven't been getting it for the months previous! I guess I just forgot about it. I'm still waiting on my rebate card from February and have to send in the one from March still. Are there any other stores that do this also?

Rachel

Yes! I use coupons for the freebies all the time. This month I used a coupon for the Colgate items. I also look at the non-freebie items because they can be good deals as well.

I think Shopko does the rebates. I believe Rite-Aid might as well.

If you go to http://www.walgreens.com you can check the status of your rebate.

I've used coupons for the "free" items. (Like March shows four items that will be free). I figure that covers my tax and postage. Sometimes I even make a few cents profit. The booklet comes out near the end of the previous month and is good for several weeks. If I don't have coupons, I note what the month's freebies are and keep my eyes open for coupons I could use before the month is over. Warning: the freebies are often sold out right near the end of the month and you could end up with nothing.

My local store is very tight about if the price advertised in the store circular is already discounted, or you use one of their coupons from the circular, you can't use any other coupon. Even if you buy two of something, they won't let you use a non-walgreens coupon.

The program used to be much better, I think. Now it seems like there is a lot of repetition in the actually free-except-for-tax items. Garnier Fructis and Colgate products have been two of the four freebies for three consecutive months now--how much mousse can I possibly use?

When something is really free, or just costs the tax, I pick it up to donate to the local food pantry/resource center. This month I got the baby stuff even though my youngest is in college and the toothpaste even though it isn't the brand I use. Those are items shelters always need.

Here is what I did for this month's rebate:

Here is everything I got:

Bandaids-3.99 -- FAR (Free after rebate)
huggies body wash- 4.99 - FAR
huggies body wash - 84 cents (had coupon for buy one get one free up to $4.15)
colgate toothbrush -3.49 - FAR and had coupon for 75 cents off
Colgate toothpaste -- FAR and had coupon for 75 cents off
Fructis hair gel 3.99 - FAR and had 1.00 off coupon

Will get a rebate of: $21.07 (I get the giftcard with the 10% added on)

First off the store has to take the coupons from manufacturers and their store coupons. I would call Corporate. One has nothing to do with the other.

Second I got the baby wash.. hey if you can wash a baby with it I can wash me with it.

:cheer2: I love the freebies!

I found the Colgate coupon to use....and one was 2.00 off two products. Woohooo!!!! So when you fill out your rebate form, you put the price it was on the receipt and not after coupon, correct?? I love free...my motto is....If it's free it's me!

Rachel

You are right, put what the price was before the coupon.

I LOVE the rebates from Walgreens!

I always use as many coupons as possible. The Huggies body wash is a sweet deal--I used the B1G1 free coupon, then used 2 of the coupons for $2.50 off of wipes when you buy the body wash (technically that coupon is off the wipes, so it went through just fine). The wipes ended up being $1 a tub, which is pretty good.

Also free at Walgreen's this week:

On Page 13 there is a coupon for $1.99 Advil Cold & Sinus or Advil Allergy meds. There was a $2 coupon in this past Sunday's paper which makes it free.

Kotex pads are b1g1 free, use the b1g1 free coupons that came out a few weeks ago and get 2 packages for free.

Revlon lip gloss is 2/$5.99. If you have any of the $3/1 Revlon coupons that came out awhile back, get 2 for free.

I had a great trip yesterday. My total before coupons was over $50 and after coupons it was $18, all of which I'll get back after rebate.

For the poster who asked, Eckerds also does rebates but they're not as good as Walgreen's. I did see in their ad this week that they are offering a $10 gift card when you buy $20 in P&G beauty products. They have Olay Regenerist products on sale so this is a good deal for me. Walgreen's has the same offer this month but the products I want haven't been on sale.

ok. this is incredible to me!! I thought I was a good shopper, but this Walgreens stuff sounds great! How do you get the rebates?? Is there a frequent shopping card I need to get at the store?
Also, I guess I need to save Walgreens fliers for several weeks, right? To make sure there aren't any coupons in a previous weeks flier that might benefit me for a current week.........

There are rebate booklets at the front of the store near that week's sale fliers. You don't need to save fliers, the coupons in them are only good for the current week. The rebate booklets also contain Walgreen's coupons which can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons.

When you've bought all your items for the month you fill out the form in the rebate booklet and send it along with your receipt(s). Be sure to circle all your rebate purchases (detailed instructions are in the booklet, but it's not hard). You can get your rebate in cash, or if you elect to get a Walgreen's gift card you get a 10% bonus (which you can then use to buy the next month's rebate items, and just keep rolling it over).

Heads up! In my paper we did not get the 2.00 coupon for Advil nor was it on sale at Walgreens this week. I am in the midwest and allergy season has not hit here.

But rebate items are the same throughout the country.

I don't have any babies -- my baby is 14. But like I said if you can wash a baby with the Huggies wash then I can wash me too with it. :lmao:

They can NOT refuse to accept any valid manufacturers coupon. The only exception (at least from my days working for a competitor) is if the circular coupon has a bar code, indicating it's actually a manufacturer-issued coupon. Then you can only use one or the other.
How far do you want to go to resolve this? First I'd start with the District Manager, going all the way up to - as somebody else suggested - Corporate; or contact your local tv station's consumer advocate; or your state's Attorney General's office; or any combination of the above.
Businesses are reimbursed by the manufacturer for the value of the coupon plus a handling fee of between five and twenty cents. They're not losing any money by accepting manufacturer-issued coupons, but your local Walgreens is probably losing a LOT of money with its poor customer service.
