Have a friend who stayed at BCV last year, 2br, before that they got suites at GFV. He just called from the Waldorf, he said it blows GFV out of the water. They were contemplating GFV, said no longer, they will never stay anywhere else. They are with 3 other families who all stayed GF before, all agree the Waldorf is far superior. He said its on property? Where is it? Anybody been there? He said GF is a 3 star resort next to the Waldorf. Is it new? Forgive my ignorance, I had never heard of it.

it's only "on property" like the bonnet creek timeshare is "on property" - pretty sure it's part of that same development. it's as close to epcot as POP but not park of the disney transportation system/buses. you don't get onsite benefits like the DDP or EMH.

but i have no doubt it's a spectacular resort, and definitely cheaper than the GF. i've considered staying there for a night or 2 prior to a DVC stay...

(and it is fairly new, BTW. opened in 2009.)

Thanks for the link Charles. Looks really nice. Just to clarify, I said before they had gotten suites at GFV, I meant GF (lest there be any confusion, GFV didn't open yet unbeknownst to us....:))

Looks awesome, but I'll take my 5 minute walk to EPCOT from BCV any day.

Looks great! and the rates are quite attractive. I'll certainly consider this for our January trip!

We stayed at Waldorf last Thanksgiving because I could not get a DVC reservation (last minute trip). I'm also a Hilton Platinum member so it was an easy decision to make. Waldorf is a great property no doubt esp. for a golfer in the family. Room and amenities are top notch, comfortable complementary shuttle service to parks, great staff, etc. but it doesn't have the Disney Magic and that's typical of most Disney resorts.
If you're comparing quality of furnishings, room size, bed comfort, etc. to price you pay at Disney resort vs. 5 star hotels such as Waldorf, 5 star wins IMO. But there is just something about getting a wake up call from Mickey and his friends, getting welcome home greetings from DVC resort staff or walking to parks.
