Get. Off. Your. Pedestal.
I? Am 16. My mother works 70-80 hours a week in a city that is 100 miles from my home. I see her on weekends. My dad is an alcoholic and a smoker. I have lost all my grand parents and great grand parents but one due to some form of cancer or heart disease. My uncle is gay and has been ex-communicated by everyone in my family but me. I am bisexual and cannot come out to my family for fear of the same happening to me. I am an aunt who will probably never see my nephew because my sister resents me because my dad divorced her mom. My brother won't even speak to me anymore. I haven't seen either of them in 7 years. I am closer to my bus driver and my history teacher than I am to anybody in my family. I self harm because sometimes it's what keeps me alive and sane. I have been suicidal. I have read over 500 books in my lifetime. I can speak at a conversational level in two languages and I understand enough of nearly 7 more to get by if I were ever in those countries. I have watched friends drink their lives away and be killed in car crashes. I've sat by unaware as a friend slips closer to death. I've been to three funerals for people under the age of 18. Two of them were the result of suicides. I can probably talk circles around you on the topics of the genocide in Darfur, the military dictatorship in Burma, the civil war in Rwanda, the nuclear energy crisis in the Middle East, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, gay marriage and equal civil liberties, illegal immigration (tell me, what's your stance on Mexicans crossing the border? I'd love to hear it), global warming, the oil crisis, the current presidential election and each major candidate, and even on the topic of Hugo Chavez and the current conflict with Venezuela. I have been sexually harrassed by people I once considered friends as well as my boyfriend. I have been cheated on and watched the boy that cheated on my have a child with his mistress. I have kept the only relationship that I thought I had a shot at succeeding in from my parents because it was with another girl. I have gone through bomb threats and gun scares. Police dog searches, lockdowns (not drills, actual lockdowns), school fires, befriending people only to have them become muderers. I have seen the dark side of people. I have seen the greed. I have been called a heathen and a stupid little girl because of my beliefs.
Do. Not. Tell me. That you have. A better view on the world than I do. Or even a better one than Shelby. Because. You're. Wrong.
Anyway.
I avoid Wal*Mart at all costs because of the fact that they get their clothes from sweat shops in China and Bangladesh and various other Asian/African/Middle Eastern/South American/Caribbean/Central American countries/cities that pay their workers as little as a penny a day. They do not subscribe to fair trade, they are in it for the fact that they're making an economic profit. I go to Wal*Mart only to print pictures because it's the only place in town with a Kodak Picture Maker.
I'd get into Thoreau's viewpoints, but my hands are cold and numb because I'm trying to conserve heat in my basement (tryin to ease the effects of global warming).

The logo has a little star in between the Wal and the Mart. You first
Wow, Great Post!!!
I agree with almost all of it.
Oh, How come people put wal*mart? Isnt it Wal-Mart?
Who doesn't!? Lol, I seriously cannot wait to get to college!
Depends on if I decide to do starter classes in the spring. If not, then I'll start next August.OT but how long do you have till you leave for school?
I know!Oooh thats soon!! How exciting!!!
Ok, back to wal*mart -- good place to buy jammy bottoms!
I think that the WalMarts around here must be really nice. I never thought of them that way, but they're well kept, nicely organized, clean and the workers are mostly nice.I actually went into Wal*Mart for the first time the other day.
I didn't really like it. :|
Maybe it was because I went directly from Target to Wal*Mart, but it just seemed a little dirty, and not so well kept.
Idk, maybe it's just the one near me.
I think I'm biased because I'm in love with Target, haha.

I'm more on the Target side too. It's because Target is 10 minutes away and Wal*Mart is 30.
Thats because you care to much about what people think about you. ITs just like dont judge a book by its coverIn my house to leave the house you are expected to have on something nice and something you wouldnt be afraid to see your friends in and at my house if i left the house in PJ my dad would kill me
