Waking Tink

dd6 (7 now) and I were first to ask last November -- a nice surprise since we had stopped for several autographs before coming to the shop. dd6 didn't want to do it (afraid/shy) so dd4 (5 now) woke Tink by herself (she came in a few minutes after dd6 and I w/dh). Of course as soon as dd4 was finished and rec'd the certificate and stickers dd6 wanted to come back and do it another day which wasn't possible. Crossing fingers that she gets a chance this year.

They are serious when they say be there at rope drop. Sometimes the competition is fierce. We had 8:05 CRT and still didn't make it. The CM in the shop said that you have to be on the left when the rope drops to be the first in the shop. It is still fun to watch if you are not the ones to wake her up. Just stand over by the bureau and watch the lights while making a big deal about Tink flying toward you. Our DDs were just as thrilled with that.

Ok I am still on this tink mission...LOL
I looked at a map and don't understand how the rope drop will be right outside of the castle? When you can reach the other areas before fantasyland. So when I come out of the castle from my CRT breakfast will I be able to get to the left-hand side? I have an idea were the store is located now. I know I am sating myself up for a disappointment! :rotfl:

LOL - People are talking about the individual land rope drops. This is the rope drop for Fantasyland. That rope is accross the back part of the castle Fantasyland entrance. If you stand on the left side of that rope you will be on the side neares to Tinkerbelle's Treasures - The store where you wake up Tinkerbelle. I'm not sure whether you can get there for the rope drop in Fantasyland after the rope drop at the front, or if have to already be in the park for an early breakie or something

I'll also strongly urge you not to get your hopes up for waking up Tink... we were also the 2nd ones there 3 times last year, I was more disappointed than DD _

DD did enjoy sharing the magic of Tink when others were in the shop and didnt realize the movement, and sound all around was "Tink escaped" and she'd get other kids excited!!

Magic is what you make of it!! :)

I would stongly encourage you to visit the shop and allow your "little person" to discover Tink all on his/her own first before you ever have him/her try to "wake up Tink"...and I would especially encourage you to have them wake up Tink when they are old enough to be excited themselves...lol...not just you being excited for them.

I do not mean this as any kind of criticism...since what I have read in this thread is filled with children who are in that wonderfully magic aware age seeking to do this...I am offering this as a guide to those of you (I have so been there myself lol) who are seeking to orchestrate magical experiences for your children...or at least put them in the way of magic so that if it falls near, you and your children can be part of it.

For the true Tink loving child, it can be waaay more magical just to be doing normal things in a shop...and to have Tink suddenly zoom by...they won't even know what it is at first, but if they can be left alone to figure it out on their own...well, that can be more magical to them than meeting Cinderella and/or Mickey!

I am probably not explaining this very well...sigh...but I am a big fan of letting a child discover things...even though I could show them so much more efficiently what they "should" discover....maybe that doesn't make sense, but you'll know what I mean when magic that you did not orchestrate occurs...

MY DD is 8 and a tink fan or I would not be taking this to the extreme! :earseek:

I've been to Disney World a million times, but I don't remember ever going into this shop. I've learned so much on these boards! (I had never even heard of waking Tink!) If you don't have a CRT breakfast reservation, should you even try to get to the shop first or is there no way? Also, if we don't make it, when you're in the shop during the day, can you see Tink flying around or is it only first thing in the morning? Thanks! Jennifer

It's my understanding that she only flies in the morning once over to the bureau by the door. After that, you can look in the keyhole and see her.

My DD is 13 and loves Tink. Would love to find this shop, not so much to wake up tink but for Tink goodies. What kind of stuff do they have? Thank you!

The shop is cute and has standard Disney stuff focused on Tink and princesses. They have t-shirts, costumes, sweatshirts, costumes, figurines and other stuff. Both of my kids looked into the keyhole to see the light that is supposed to be Tink and they were thrilled. I think if you gear your kids up to "seeing" Tinkerbell they might be disappointed.

I agree with this whole heartedly. We were there on a slow day just about two weeks ago. We had finished breakfast at CP and were waiting for the rope drop under the castle. I saw tinks Treasures right ahead and knew if we waited on the left side we could probably be the first there. It was the day after the nightime EMH so the park was dead. I also knew that DS6 & DS8 could have cared less about Tinkerbell. If I mentioned it they would have wanted to do it not so much because they liked Tinkerbell but just because it was something to do.

We did see one person try to sneak thier child under the rope to get to Tinks Treasures early. I couldn't believe it. With about 3 minutes to go they came racing out of CRT and he held up the rope while she ducked under. Happily they were promptly shown the door and escorted back under the rope. They did ended up going back into CRT and did not wake up Tink.

On a side note when we got to Toontown for rope drop there DS8 was the first on the Barnstormer and did get to ride with Goofy. He went ahead when he saw Goofy. I didn't tell him about it in advance I just let it happen and that was the best I think. He had no expectation and was totally suprised when Goofy motioned to join him in the front seat.

Here is a picture of it.

We had the same experience on Tom Sawyers Island at the end of the trip. Both DS6 & DS8 while acting as self appointed guides in the escape tunnel found Tom Sawyers paint brush. They asked what to do with it and I said they should return it to the person on the raft. They were suprised to get the certificate and the fast pass access to BTMRR.

The last time I was in this shop...gosh, could it really be over two years ago?!

Anyway, the last time I was in this shop "Tinkerbelle" "flew" to three different places. Tinkerbelle was a fiber optic effect. She "flew" via sparkles, from a box to a tree to somewhere else...cannot remember exactly where, but the "flights" occurred all day...sometimes it took a little while, but I really enjoyed seeing her surprise the children.

Maybe they have changed this...maybe now she doesn't "fly" anymore...anyone know for sure? I'll be there in less than two weeks and I'm going to have to check this out. I'll put it in my trip report. I really hope they didn't put her in her box...ALL day...she wouldn't like that I'm sure!

Not true. We were there last week. This has always been one of my favorite shops to visit because of Tink. She flies around the store all day from the time she is awakened until closing. My niece got to wake her the day we were there, and after a few minutes my niece asked the cast member when does Tinkerbell go back to sleep and she told her that she flies around the store all day spreading her pixie dust, then she sets off the fireworks at night to make sure everyone in the park got their pixie dust before she settles down for the night.

Tinkerbell's Treasures is not difficult to find, go through the castle, and look to the left. It is the shop with Cinderella statue sitting at the fountain outside of it. Mostly the same stuff you would find at the Emporium and other shops, a lot of little princess dresses, crowns, etc. Not necessarily just Tink stuff. good luck, have fun!

Yes, believe it or not, my DS loves Tinkerbell...almost as much as I do, and I am going to (hopefully) get him in to wake up Tink. I think the posts with advice are great on this thread, and plan to take him to the shop 1st. This way he can see Tink fly around and get excited.

I am not going to say anything about it and hope for the best.

Question, can someone please answer...

We are having breakfast at Crystal Palace at 8:00 am. Will we be able to get over to the castle by 8:45 to wait for the rope drop or will they keep us at CP? Thanks for the replies....What can I say, I'm an obsessive Disney planner :teeth:
