Waitlists and Borrowing Question

Hi everyone! I am still a DVC newbie and have a question.

I have a couple different ressies for 2012, taking more than one trip.

I have a waitlist request out there that I am hoping will come through. If the waitlist does come through it is going to take 48 more points than my current reservation is for.

I have since made other ressies using all my 2012 use year points. I will need to borrow 48 2013 points if my waitlist comes through.

If my waitlist comes through will it automatically borrow the points for me? Or do I need to call MS and arrange for those points to already be borrowed in case my waitlist comes through?

Can this be done online? I looked around but really couldn't figure it out.

I don't want to take a chance of my waitlist coming through and me not getting it because I needed to have borrowed ahead.

The waitlist can be set to borrow points. You should call MS to check if it's already set to borrow points if necessary.

Waitlists can now be seen on the member website under 'Vacation Center'.

On this page you can check the status of a Waitlist request, modify its expiration date or cancel it—moving it from active to inactive status.

I'm not sure if you can change the option to borrow points or not on-line.

Yes, waitlist options to borrow points or not is included within the on-line menu when setting up a waitlist request. I just waitlisted for a full week of the same room category at Aulani for August 2012.

Usually, when you set up a waitlist that will require a borrowing of points, the CM will mention this before putting it in.

This way, when it matches, it can go through because you have already given approval.

If you are unsure if you did, then I would just give MS a call and make sure they know its okay to borrow.
