Are you put on a master list these days and do they truly go in order or is it the luck of the draw and/or how good your guide stays on top of things???

Curious how it works, last time we did an add on it was just prior to the $500 deposit being required.

Thinking about calling...

Thanks!

Shan, I'm pretty sure there is a master list, and you have to put down the $500 deposit now. We went on the waitlist in Feb. and got our 150 VWL addon about 1 month later. I felt that my guide was really on top of the situation, but he assured me several times that "they" (whoever they is) would call him and let him know as soon as our points came thru. Sure enough, he told me while he was on his day off, he returned to find out that our points had come through. So, I'm kind of inclined to think that the guide doesn't really have to keep up with the list too much. One thing to be aware of, and I hope I can explain this so it makes sense, if someone came on the waitlist after you but there request is for a smaller amount of points, than they might get their points before you. I saw a couple of people get their 50 point add on's because DVC didn't have 150 to fulfil my request. DVC doesn't "save" them up to meet your request if you are first on the list. If you want 150 and the person behind you wants 75, if DVC gets 100 points, they will skip over you and fulfil the 75 point addon. At least this is how it appeared to me, and was explained by my guide. He even told me if I was really concerned I could do 2 75 point add on's, but we just waited and it worked out okay. Where are you thinking of adding on, and how much? I think the some BWV might be available, VWL comes and goes fairly quickly, they had some OKW on the spot in Feb. and BCV seems to have the longest wait. Hope this helps answer your question.

::yes::

Have to agree with ErinC. We just added on at BCV. I originally told our guide 100 pts and he said it might be a while. I told him an additional 60 would help our vacation plans. He suggested we break our request into 2 - 50pts. The first contract came through after 9 days on the waitlist, got the 2nd 50 last week after 42 days. It meant two $500 charges on the credit card and 2 payments and signing documents twice. But I got my BCV pts very quickly.

I would like 50 points in our December use year. For that amount and for any for that matter I would like to keep it at our home resort at BCV. It just seems easier to keep up with. I would love VWL, but doesn't make sense for that small amount of points.

I was worried cause I saw another thread that listed waitlists. It seemed there were a few who had been waiting awhile for 50 points, December use year at BCV. One had been on the list since last July!

I would like to go ahead and do it since I got the green light from hubby. We had a great spring break trip and I think we're back on that WDW high.

I'm concerned now about the price increase, though. I had asked on another thread if I put the deposit down now would they honor the $89???

Thanks guys! :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure, that if it doesn't come through and the price goes up, than you pay the higher price. It seems like Beca or someone else posted that DVC called them and asked if they wanted to remain on the waitlist when the price increased. Since you love VWL so much, why not waitlist for both, and then maybe you would have a better chance of getting one of them before the price increases. My bet would be that you get the VWL points first. It's a hard decision to make. Since we were adding on 150 I was tempted to do SSR to get a the new incentives, but I figured once those extra points were gone, I'd be sorry I hadn't waited on the VWL points. I know that you've mentioned in the past how much you liked VWL, so maybe you could consider doing your add on there, then you would own both of the "smallest" DVC resorts. Definitely, not a bad position to be in. Many people have said that keeping up with 2 resorts is no big deal, especially if they have the same UY. Have fun making your decision. Hopefully no matter what you choose, your wait won't be too long. 50 shouldn't be near as bad as waiting for 150--200 points. I know 50 doesn't seem like much, but with banking and borrowing , you could still get your family a studio at VWL every 3rd year during most seasons for a week.
