Can you believe it, I called DVC today because I found good airfare for Memorial Day Weekend. Well, I wanted to try OKW again and I couldn't get Sunday before Memorial Day in a studio. Friday and Saturday were there, but not Sunday in a studio. Saratoga had all three days, but my husband doesn't want to stay at Saratoga. So we're waitlisted at OKW. I have a cash AP rate at a regular Disney resort just in case. But, I really want to stay at OKW on my points, darn it!

I never thought I'd see the day at more than 2 months out that I'd have to waitlist for OKW. I know it's a holiday, but usually OKW ALWAYS has availability. I think there are changes in the air!

I was on a waitlist for 2 months last Sept (for a Nov stay) at OKW and it never came through. I called the resort right up until the day we left.
I wish you luck.....hope the studio comes through for you :flower:

I'm on the waitlist now for an OKW 2 bedroom villa. We have April 17, 18 & 20 hopefully the 19th will become available. Like you, our initial call to MS was about 2 months before the check-in date. We have had good experiences with waitlisting at OKW though - I'll bet each of our waitlists will clear. Lots of plans change as you approach the 31 day before check-in mark.

Good luck.

My friends are waitlisted for their last night at OKW for Easter. They were able to get a 1 bedroom at BWV for that night, but are waitlisted for OKW. Why are we having this all of a sudden?

As the number of new members increases with the addition of SSR I think it is going to be increasingly difficult to get reservations at other resorts - particularly the smaller BCV and VWL. OKW too, although not as flashy as other resorts, is a real gem that new members must be discovering. We try and book early (compulsive Disney planner) but sometimes the spur-of-the-moment trips when cheap airfare is available just can't be avoided !!

I must say this makes me a little nervous. We just purchased points at OKW with a June UY. We usually travel in mid to late January and like to stay in a 1-BR. Since we have had no trouble getting ressies at 5 months out for this time, I thought we would be safe in the 8-month window. I hope we are.

On Jan 2nd the wait line at check in was right out the door all day long-I know, I didn't get my room until 4:45, imagine January and the place was packed.. The problem is that OKW low points situation and so many members who now buy so little points trying to stretch them plus you have members now renting studios for the same reason. Good luck. :confused3

I am thinking that the party going on this year will be effecting May and June travel as well.

I think you should be fine calling 5 months in advance---particularily for January. I just called less than 6 months out for OKW ressies for August and had no trouble gettting a 2 bedroom for the week.
It seems to be the 2-3 months out time period that's having difficulty. I was forced to call 2 months out back in Sept '04 because my points were in "holding". I'll admit though, I honestly thought I'd get OKW (I was told they had NO villas of any size for the week I wanted). But, in all fairness, it was Jersey Week and Food & Wine Festival was going on as well. I just think popular times of the year will be the troublesome ones. But I think there used to be a time when OKW was always available. As a couple have said....things might be changing.

Wow! When we checked in on January 24 it was very quiet. We were in our studio by 11:30 a.m. at the latest. The closer we got to February 1, however, the busier it seemed to become. In any event, I guess I'll find out how lucky I am in a couple of months!! :)

I must say, this makes me ALOT nervous. We're going to OKW (I hope) for Thanksgiving. Since we don't own there, we can't book until April, so we'll be sweating it out until then. I know one thing that would help in the future-perhaps owning some points there?

I'm assuming you're booking there for the lower points ? Maybe you could at least book where you own (to ensure you get something) and you can always switch the ressie over to OKW in April ? This way, if OKW is booked by April, at least you have something ? Good luck !
