Waitlisted for March 08?

I tried to reserve a 2BR for March 23, 08 for 4 nights and I was surprised to find that there were none available at any of the DVC properties at DisneyWorld. So I'm waitlisted. Is this normal? Should I look for something at a different location just to make sure that the 6 of us have a space somewhere. I'm not sure how to proceed, since this hasn't happened to me before.

March 23rd is Easter Week in 2008. Other than Christmas week, that is one of the busiest of the year at WDW.

At the end of October, we called to make ressies for March 22 - March 28. At that time, the only 2-BR availability was at SSR, which is our home resort. No dedicated 2-BRs were available, so we reserved a 2-BR lockout. I put our name on a wait list for a dedicated 2-BR. Our request came through within 2 weeks.

If DVC is full and you put your name on a waitlist, I am not sure if you're waitlisted for any 2-BR opening or a specific resort. If you're on SSRs wait list, I would think you would have a pretty good chance of getting a room. Because I'm conservative and Dis's policy is pretty liberal for cancellations, I would go ahead and reserve a room somewhere else and cancel when your ressie comes through. If it doesn't, you have a room and can decide whether you want to keep it or not.

Lastly, when we were waitlisted for the dedicated 2-BR, the lady I spoke with told me to call 30 days out and say that I still wanted to be on the list. I think if you call at 30 days, they can place you on a list up to 7 days out. Beyond 7 days, I think you have to call daily. Not 100% sure about that, though.

If you really want to go to WDW then I would have a back up plan.

Easter like Christmas books up before the 7 month window. A lot of folks book their home resorts for these very busy times of the year. You need to get a backup plan, fast!

call back and see if there are any 2-bedroom during your stay.

some ms are willing to work with you.

my trip in march staying BWV and AKV - only 4 days. but BWV is booked the resort of time and I do love AKV.

if you are flexible you might get something. although traveling with a group of 6 definitely understand not wanting to change.

When I talked with MS, we waitlisted me for any 2 BR under 200 pts, up to 7 days out. I'd never wait that late to see if I had a place to stay with 4 kids, but I thought I'd leave it at that. However, I've been trying to locate a rental home, which we've used in the past, and they seem to be booked up as well. I'm considering just skipping it this year. If there's that many people in the area, it really is not pleasant. I may just wait until the summer, once the kids are out of school.
