Waitlist

I have been wait listed for any of the resorts the weekend of the marathon Jan 5-8. I have requested a studio or one bedroom. Does anyone have an idea of the chances of getting a room? I don't quite know what to do. They said I can put points against one of the hotels but I can't see paying for a room when I already have points. I am so upset that I waited but in the past there has been plenty of room.
Does it do any good to call frequently to check on status?

Give it another week or so before you panic and use your points for a non DVC resort. 31 days prior, members have to cancel or risk having their points placed in the holding account. Anyone whose plans are a bit shaky will cancel then.

If nothing comes through by 12/9, you need to decide whether or not to stay on the waitlist or book something else.

FWIW, I don't think your chances are very good, but I hope I'm wrong.

If I were in your situation, and would be comfortble in a Value resort, I think I would try to book POP for those nights, provided you had a 5 day cash cancel window in case your wait list comes through.

What do you mean a 5 day cash cancel? I was under the impression that once you made a reservation at POP or where ever, that the reservation could be canceled with a full refund only 30 days out.

It used to be, I don't know if it is still this way, that room only ressies booked through CRO and not WDTC could be cancelled at 5 days out without penalty, packages had a longer 30 or 45 day window. That policy may have changed with the introduction of the MYW packages.

Just spoke with CRO. Yes, it is a 6 day full refund cancelation window. At five days you have to pay a penalty of one day plus taxes.

If this helps, I have been waitlisted for the week od 1/1-1/7. I got BWV for 1/1-1/4 and BCV for 1/5-1/7 just last week. Maybe you'll get something. I have faith!! I have been on the waitlist since July.
