Waitlist Strategy Question...

We were supposed to be going this summer, 7/29-8/11, in a studio BW view the entire time. Unfortunately we had to change our dates to 8/3-8/16 & we were only able to keep 8/3-8/11 in our BW view studio. 8/11-8/16 is now @ SS & waitlisted for BW in both a BW view & a Pool/Garden view studio. Now I know that my waitlist will only come through if all 5 nights become available @ once so I was thinking that I should also try calling back often and piecing the 5 nights together. Have any of you guys had luck doing it this way or do you have any other advice/feelings on this?

I would waitlist each day separately. I waitlisted 2 BW studios for the last weekend of F & W last year only 2 months out and got them both by waitlisting day by day.

Much better odds - you can grab a day here and there much easier than waiting for many days together!

Good luck!

I got my most recent waitlist in 2 weeks - had to waitlist 2 days for OKW Grand Villa and just got them!

You will be able to have only two active waitlists in one use year. It is always worth a try. We have had good luck with waitlists, even BWV during Food and Wine!

Hope it works out for you!

I would waitlist each day separately.

i'm not sure they allow that any more.

i would also be concerned that you might get a couple of days at BWV toward the end and never get the days in the middle...and would have to switch resorts 2-3 times...

They no longer allow day by day waitlists.

What you need to know about the wait list for Disney Vacation Club Resorts:

•During the Home Resort Priority, you can only wait list at your Home Resort.
•You can have up to two active wait list requests per Membership per Use Year.
Wait list requests for consecutive nights cannot be split into separate night-by-night requests.
•Your request will remain on the wait list for up to 31 days before your requested check-in date. If you'd like to keep your name on the wait list beyond that time, contact Member Services at least 32 days prior to your requested check-in date.
•There is no wait list available within seven days of your requested check-in date.
•If your wait list request becomes available, Member Services will automatically confirm the reservation and mail a confirmation to you.
•There is no need to contact Member Services once your request has been placed on the wait list.
•All other wait list requests or previously confirmed reservations for comparable dates will be cancelled when a wait list request is confirmed. Additionally, you will not be contacted prior to a wait list request being confirmed and a confirmation letter being mailed to you.
•As a courtesy to other Members, please contact Member Services if you no longer wish to be on the wait list.
Tip: For a better chance of securing your vacation plans when you call Member Services, have second and third choices in mind. Since being on the wait list does not guarantee you a vacation spot, consider whether you can alter your arrival or departure dates or use different accommodations, among other things.

Yes definitely call every day and see if you can add a night at a time! You just may get all the nights you need this way and I think it will work better than a waitlist. Good luck!

I currently have 2 waitlists: one for Nov 30-Dec 1 and one for Nov 30 only. The CM had no issue with waitlisting Nov 30 seperate from Dec 1.

Luck of the draw. Many folks have been reporting that CMs are now enforcing this rule.

To the OP, calling on a regular basis is your best bet if you want to piece the reservation together instead of relying on the waitlist to come through. How you do that all comes down to which you feel is the less desirable outcome.

If you don't want to have to move multiple times during your trip, only check the nights that would give you a consecutive stay at BW. (In other words, don't book Wednesday night if you can't get Tuesday.) If you'd rather take a chance on bouncing back and forth a few times if it means a better chance at more nights at the BWV, book any individual nights as they become available. Remember, though, even a change in view within the same resort still means packing up all the bags and doing a check-out/check-in. That means you could be roomless from 11:00 - 4:00.

If you're able to find individual nights in the middle of your waitlisted period, remember this will also effect your waitlist. For example, your current waitlist is for the 11th through the 16th for two room categories. If you book the 14th, your two waitlists would now be for the 11-13 and 15-16 for a single booking category only.

I am feeling pretty lucky actually. Got the GCV for 3 nights after the 7 month mark for the week after Thanksgiving. pixiedust: Hoping for the last 2 nights now.
