March 2026 Exercise Thread - Wearin' o' the Disney Green

Loved the latest update about Jiminy Cricket and how he came about. I did not know any of that info. I love the Pinocchio movie.
I also love that this thread is encouraging me to make the effort to do a walk every day :goodvibes
40 minutes walk Saturday and 20 on Sunday for a total of 255/620

30 minutes yesterday and 20 so far today brings me to 265/700.

Congratulations to clappyclaps on reaching orange!! :tigger:

The team has just 227 minutes to go to reach orange as well. :cheer2:

Today's Green-wearing Disney character is Mulan:

(She wears several different outfits in the animated film, but she's in green on the header of her official Disney Princess page, so I'm including her.)

Here is some Mulan trivia:

I need to know what all of this actually is? Looks great!

This was a few years ago, but to the best of my recollection:

Top pic: an Easter dessert with a meringue-like (?) bunny topping (we still have that cup as a souvenir); a flower-shaped sugar cookie; a bone-shaped bun/pastry (maybe a red bean-type filling?); another Easter jello/pudding; a Mike W. bun; and a chocolate brownie Mickey head.

Bottom pic: a mousse and cake dome dessert and a Mike W cookie (maybe a cookie sandwich?)

Didn’t get much of a proper walk yesterday as I was helping my daughter decluttering her kids rooms but today I did 45 minutes walking along the towpath beside the River Lagan, mostly trying to catch up with my granddaughter on her balance bike 😜
300/620

Congrats to sophy1996 and the TEAM on turning orange!! :tigger: :cheer2: :tigger:

Today's green Disney character is Heimlich, from A Bug's Life:

Heimlich was voiced by Joe Ranft (click on his name for his IMDb page) - who was not just a voice actor, but a writer and artist on some of your favorite Disney/Pixar films as well! He sadly passed away in a car crash in 2005.

Heimlich is most likely a promethea silkmoth:

Did you know you can also spot Heimlich in Toy Story 2? -
He's crawling on some branches when Buzz is chopping his way through them, is available as a toy in Al's Toy Barn, and has a close-up talking to Flik in the ‘outtakes” at the end (explaining to Flik that the sequel isn’t about A Bug’s Life.)

A quick 15 minutes for me yesterday, and I'm at 345/700.

Big congrats to Raya at orange and to sophy1996 for being the first to purple. :tigger: :figment:

The team stands at 1,608 minutes and 32% of goal. :cheer2:

Today's green-wearing Disney character is Tiana:
1773316099584.png1773316007043.png1773315963237.png

From the Disney Wiki:

Tiana is loosely based on the unnamed princess from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale The Frog Prince and Princess Emma from E.D. Baker's novel The Frog Princess. She is the ninth official Disney Princess and also the last and most recent to originate from a traditionally-animated film.

Tiana made history as the first African-American princess in the Disney Princess franchise. Early in development, Tiana was originally called Maddy and worked as a chambermaid in the La Bouff household. However, public criticism eventually caused her character's name to be changed to Tiana and her job, a waitress. Disney spokeswoman Heidi Trotta later stated, "Princess Tiana will be a heroine in the great tradition of Disney's rich animated fairy tale legacy, and all other characters and aspects of the story will be treated with the greatest respect and sensitivity." This reworking of the story itself was greatly inspired by the life story of New Orleans chef Leah Chase, and she, in turn, would contribute to the "Tiana's Cookbook" that was published when the film came out.

  • Tiana's name means "princess" in Greek.
  • Tiana is (to date) the only Disney Princess to have her father dead and her mother alive; it is typically the other way around.
  • In the first act of the film, Tiana's clothes are mostly in dull, subdued colors, symbolizing her overly serious workaholic personality. After she's turned into a frog, she slowly learns to lighten up and live life to the fullest. After she returns to her human form, Tiana's clothes become noticeably brighter, mirroring her change of heart.
  • The streetcar Tiana takes to work, during an early scene, is labeled with the number "A113". A113 was the room for the animation department at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts; the room now houses graphic design classes). During the 1970s, directors John Musker and Ron Clements, in addition to Disney/Pixar animation executive John Lasseter and Pixar director Brad Bird, studied animation in room A113. "A113" labels are hidden in Disney and Pixar films.

Tiana is voiced by Anika Noni Rose
