Looking to go to VGC this time next year. We can only book VGC 7 months out, so to guarantee our Disney fix, we're going to book at Poly 11 months out. Two totally different locations, I know. So if we have to waitlist for VGC, it's my understanding our reservation will automatically be switched. How long is this automatic switch good? 30 days out? Can we specify to make it 60 days out? I'm leaning towards no waitlist and just stalking the website so we can make the decision with enough time to book flights, etc.

Wait list entries can be set to expire at either 31 or 7 days prior to check-in. If you want the wait list to end more than 31 days out, you will need to manually cancel the wait list entry (either on-line or by calling MS).

Thanks, I had myself convinced it was 30 days out...at least I was close. ;)

I think we'll go ahead and waitlist, but have a date in mind to drop if we need to.

If you weren't able to get the room right at 7 months I'd suggest a waitlist but also stalking the website. If you have the points to pick up nights if they become available while still holding your PVB reservation you may be able to get a reservation that way. You would book what shows up and then set up a new waitlist to either fill in or cover the remainder of the nights you need. If having difficulty getting into VGC then whenever you reach the point that you want to commit to WDW just cancel the waitlist for VGC.
