Waitlist Question

I was just able to move my October trip around. I was originally booked for the first week of October. Now it's the last week. I wasn't able to get a value studio at AKV like I had with my original reservation, but I did get the first night in a value. We will be arriving late, so that is perfect. I am planning on waitlisting the entire 5 nights in a value. I know you can have two waitlists though, so I'm wondering if it would make sense to also waitlist maybe the second night separately since it's a weekend night. That would have us staying in a value for two nights, then moving to a standard for the last 3 nights. I generally don't like split stays, but I would be fine with that since it's in the same resort. I'm just wondering if it would make sense to do it that way.

What view are you moving to? Personally I'd try to avoid moving and I'd wait list the first night in whatever we you have for the rest of the time as my second wait list. Unless you don't have enough points.

I will be in a value studio for the first night, moving to a standard view for the next four nights. We will be arriving probably after 11:00 pm. I'm ok with staying in the value the first night since we are arriving so late. We plan to sleep in the first day, check out at 11:00 am, and head to Disney Springs for the day. Now that I think about it, I probably wouldn't like moving after two nights. I think your idea is a good one. It would cost only two more points to stay in the standard, so I might use that as my second waitlist. Thanks!

I hate being "homeless" from 11 am check out to 4:00 check in, so we don't do split stays anymore. Plus, having to pack up the first villa and then unpack in the second, it just eats up our vacation time. I would waitlist the standard studio and only have one reservation.

That is actually how I feel, too. We used to do split stays in order to get the deluxe dining plan for only part of our trip, but I hated moving. I really don't think it will bother me much to move after just one night though. Especially since we will be arriving so late. And we plan to be at Disney Springs for at least five hours anyway. I'll have to talk to DH about it and see what he thinks. I do think I would hate moving after two nights though, so that idea is out.

I have done waitlists like that in the past and it worked out well with being able to get the entire reservation into the same room. So, I might wait list the second night and then if that fills, waitlist night number 3, etc.

I just wondered if that would work. It makes sense to have one of your waitlists be the entire trip, then the second one be just the first night. If the one night comes through, then keep the waitlist for the entire stay (which would be one less night now) and add a waitlist for the second night, and so on. It makes total sense to me. I just don't know if I want to move say after 3 or 4 days. I don't mind moving after one night, maybe after two if it's a longer trip, but that would be my stopping point. Right now, I have just waitlisted the value for the 4 nights. I didn't waitlist the standard for the first night because we want to conserve points and we really don't mind moving after that first night. Who knows? Maybe staying in a value for just one night will improve my chances of a savanna view. I've always only gotten pool view. But that leads to the question of when the animals get checked on the value rooms' savanna. Guess I'll start another thread for that! :-)
