Waitlist question

I have a reservation for AKV Kidani 1 bdrm Standard view

I have waitlisted a savannah view for Kindani and another for a 1 bdrm Jambo Savannah

Should I still call through the day and ask if they have availability or will my WL truly take that room if it opens up?

My ressie is May 3-8, don't know what the likely hood is.

Unless you are willing to modify the reservation if only one of the days becomes available, then I don't think calling would help.

However, you can check it online and if you do see part of your stay and want to update, you could then call MS.

That is what I just did with an upcoming Memorial day trip. I was checking online and all of a sudden days popped up--called MS quick and they switched things for me.

I didn't have a wait list in place because I had two separate reservations and didn't want to chance only one part coming through.

if it comes available it will NOT be filled until the waitlist script runs at some point during the day/night. So if someone else sees it and calls/books online then you would have lost out.

I would stalk it online and grab it if you see it and then cancel your waitlist.

I strongly agree with this. Just this morning, I was attempting to book 5 nights in October in a standard view studio at AKV Jambo for a friend of mine. Sure enough, only the 1st 3 nights were available. I decided to book a standard view studio at Kidani instead for all 5 nights and waitlisted at Jambo for the entirety. Midday I checked again, and 4 of the days were available at Jambo, but the one day missing was right in the middle. Would have been a royal pain to cancel, rebook 2 separate stays and waitlist the single night. I kept thinking it would all work out eventually, since it was the first day of the 7 month window and she would be near the top of the waitlist (because 2 days ago the whole stay was available.) I decided to check one more time when I got home from work; lo and behold, all 5 nights opened up at Jambo, I quickly cancelled the Kidani studio, and the waitlist, and snapped up the 5 days at Jambo. And then, just for the heck of it, I checked one more time, and this time ONLY the middle night was available at Jambo. So I got the last studio currently available for those particular 5 nights. Could they open up again somewhere down the line? Sure. But I think it's entirely likely that someone else could have booked that studio, while my waitlist sat there waiting for the automated process. I think this is even more likely with online booking.
