Waitlist Question

I currently have 13 points in a holding account and had a 4 night BLT studio stay for 8/24-8/28.

We waitlisted for 8/23 with the hopes that it would come in during that 60 day window where the holding account points could be put to use.

Well as luck would have it, my waitlist came in today! I should be doing the happy dance but, what can I do with those 13 points in the holding account now? We needed to have them used by October 1.

I guess I shouldn't have waitlisted that night until it was in the 60 day mark, but to be honest - we have never had a waitlist come in that soon.

Oh and the waitlist was for a Sunday, and we are leaving for home on Friday, so it's not like I can add an extra day on either end without it costing me more points on top of it, and we are booked a few days earlier at POP for free dining!

On 6/24 just see if you can waitlist for another room (same date and type) (you may have to use a different primary name for the reservation) and specify that you want it filled with your holding points. MS may even allow you to specify canceling the existing reservation so you get your regular points back without having to call in.

You could also do the same thing for your last day 8/28 for your second allowable waitlist which would add to your likelihood of using up your holding points.

I guess I thought that I wasn't able to do that since we borrowed out points for this trip. If I will still be able to cancel a day without having those points go into holding again that will be great!

I will call them today.

Just remember if you are borrowing points they stay in the use year you borrowed then into. You will also want to make sure that you do not need to borrow any more to make have enough points for a repalcement reservation (or only a very small number) If the use year you borrowed them into ends 10/09 then they would sill need to be used by then, but you would not have the 60 day rule anymore.
