Just when you think you have it figured out, something changes your mind.

Disney says there is no need to call once you are waitlisted, but the threads say differently. Post after post mentions that they called MS and the the CS just happened to grab a room for them (it just came open). This seems mighty suspicious. So, is waitlisitng and not calling okay? Or is this an art rather than a science?

It is hit and miss for me with the waitlist. I was one of those people that called in and checked dates, MS said yes it is available...I then said what about my waitlist and it was... oh yeah it is filled we just have to complete it for you. I find this a little hard to believe that they had my waitlist plus another 1br at BWV in June for the exact dates? I know they saw you don't have too but I call occasionally. The other thing is I have some flexibility when I waitlist......for my next trip I'm doing a split stay and trying to get as close to a 50/50 split as possible. So I have a few days waitlisted but call to see if one of those day is available...if so I take it and modify my waitlist.

I for one still think the waitlist is somewhat of a mystery of what should happen and what actually happens.

My understanding of it (from reading various threads here over the years) is that the computer will automatically match up your waitlist, HOWEVER it takes someone to manually go in and confirm the reservation (and cancel any existing reservation). For this reason, you may phone and it seems like you jump the queue, but actually the match has already been made and just needs a warm body to confirm it. I'm not sure how often they are assigned to go in and confirm waitlists, but it may not get done for a few days after the computer has made the match.

I just have to jump in here. I called day by day (because when I made this ressie you had to do that) and made my ressie at my ELEVEN MONTH HOME RESORT (BWV) and got waitlisted. I have never NOT had my ressie come thru. This is the first year that this has happened. I have called on a few occasions to make PS ressies and checked to see if anything was available and have been told no each time. I am now 32 days out and disappointed that nothing has come available. At least I am not having to switch resorts, but hate the thought of moving THREE times when I called at the eleven month window. Thanks for listening and good luck with all the waitlists out there.

I called yesterday just a few minutes before MS closed and there was no availability (I am on a waitlist since June). This morning, I called again a couple of hours after MS opened and there was a studio. Whether the computer had already matched it up, I am not certain. But the CM was off the line for quite a while and then came back and said my waitlist had matched and that she had transferred the room I had at BWV over to BCV and had already linked the existing reservation. The 30 day mark was getting close and I really had my hopes up for the next two or three days, thinking if it was going to happen, it should happen real soon. So needless to say, we are excited about the prospect of not having to move for our last night in December.
