Just curious....when you are waitlisted...doesn't Member Services always call you when something becomes available before putting it through for you?

The other day we had one of ours come through and we had a message on our answering machine telling us we had 36 hours to call MS back so they could make the change.

But I thought I saw several people mention that they had gone to the members' website and noticed their points deducted so they knew their waitlist had come through.

no.

I though they had changed to competely automatic these days.

if they have it you get it.

no calling - no waiting for you to them back.

they use to have different types - automatic, they have to call you then you call them back if they can't reach you, then if you still want it and it is availability (this was the problem if you don't call them in just a few hours the computer decides that you don't want it and sends it back to the general. In the meantime someone else comes along and wants it. So despite you calling back - you weren't fast enough and lost it.)

but though a couple of months ago they just switched to the automatic.

It's supposed to be automatic now -- no more phone calls. This changed earlier this year but I can't remember exactly when. When did you get on the waitlist? As far as I remember, the only members still getting calls about a waitlist coming through were those who got on the waitlist before the rule change went into effect.

That's strange because I think it was just within the past month...we only started planning our trip very recently.

We're still on waitlist for several other says so we'll see how that one is handled.

thanks

That is strange. I just had a waitlist come through last week and did not get a call. I went on the list in late August.

No, no more calls. When I waitlisted this past Monday, MS told me they automatically reserve the room and send a confirmation in the mail. I asked about a phone call (have to know right away so we can change transportaion) and she said they do not call anymore.
You'd think they'd at least email, knowing how many members call MS every day just to check. Oh well! :confused3

I had a waitlist come through this week and the only reason I knew that it had was because I checked the activity in my points using the member site. I had to call MS to change which points they'd used for the reservation. I had a night at AKV that was canceled with the waitlist for VWL came through. But they changed from using AKV points to using my VLW points without asking me and I wanted to actually use the AKV points for the waitlisted night. It seems the automatic waitlist requires MS to "guess" which points you want to use when you own multiple locations.

Our waitlist for BWV came through for our trip next month... and they called us to confirm. We did book the trip for SSR a while back and we waitlisted before the rule change. I was surprised since it is one of the busier times for DVC and we got the entire week. Whats even cooler is that it came through on our 30 day mark.

I know it is no but I am wondering if they are calling come people that have multiple waitlist locations since it is so difficult to access the information on the website without doing the secret vodoo path.;)

I went on the waitlist yesterday for 1/13/08 at OKW. I'm hoping that if something comes up they'll do it automatically, since I'll be away for awhile in November.

Our waitlist came through yesterday, but no call. I had 4 locations requested, but I know it's SSR because the number of points used are lower than the other resorts. And I was able to get on the "activity" section of DVC yesterday and confirmed, plus got the ressie number.
Good luck everyone!

I still can't get the website to show me activity info!!!!!! I keep checking there to see if my waitlist has come thru. I don't want to bug them by calling. Someone send me pixie dust that I get the 2-BR BWV in January!!!

Does the Points Activity Statement page load? If it does, then you just need to set the Use Year Range dates to something that will show some data. By default, the Begin and End dates are set to values that will show you no data.

So go to the drop downs for the Begin and End dates and set them to dates that span the date of your vacation. For example, if you have a June UY and your vacation is in Aug 2008, set the start date to June 2008 and the end date to May 2009. Then click Go. The page should reload, showing you points activity for the selected dates.

Your other option is to view your Vacation Details now that we know a trick to get that page to load. Go to My Vacation Points. Over on the left, click on Annual Dues. When that page loads, click your browser's back button to go back to My Vacation Points. Click on the "View Vacation Details" link. That should bring up your reservations.
