waitlist question

I have a question for you all DVC vets out there. My family and I are currently waitlisted for Nov. 21st through the 24th. We're waitlisted for Saratoga Springs, but is there a way that we can waitlist for any DVC property that comes available? SS is our home resort, but I'd just like to use my points, so I really don't care where we stay. Is there an option to take "first available" DVC? Right now we're paying out of pocket for POR for those nights, is there a DVC cash discount that maybe we could take advantage of? Sorry for all the questions, but we're newbies and still learning the DVC ropes!

DVC cash discount only are available if the room is available on points, but it isn't expected to be needed. You're looking for the Wed before Thanksgiving to the Sat after Thanksgiving. Most people made those reservations months ago. We made our in Dec or Jan.

You can use points to book any non DVC resort. May cost you more than a studio at SSR points wise though.

Don't take this wrong, but we are at SSR for Thanksgiving week. We tried every resort possible including the non-DVC resorts and nothing else was available. I tried Poly, Contemporary, etc. also. No categories were available on points. I have been on the waitlist for several other resorts for 1 1/2 months to move (this is just personal preference in that we don't like the resorts that are so spread out - we own at OKW and don't prefer that either --- no flames as I'm not insulting these resorts, they're just not our preference). I say waitlist for as many resorts as you'd like and see what happens, but I was shocked to find that the non-DVC resorts had no availability either.

Yeah, we certainly will make our ressies earlier next year, but we didn't purchase into DVC until June, so unfortunately we couldn't get the dates we were looking for. Thanks for all your responces, I'll call back and see about waitlisting in more places than just SSR.
