Waitlist Question

Even though we've been members since '92, we've never been on a waitlist. Just lucky I guess.

This trip we have are ressies at our home resort since 11 months out, but we wanted to move to BCV for the final 5 nights.

My questions is do we have to wait until 7 months out to request to be put on the waitlist for those days ( and MS will automatically check dates when the 7 month date arrives) or do we have to wait until 7 mos out before we can even ask.

My husband plans on waiting until 7 months from our final night and then calling MS to see if the nights are available.

What happens if you're on the waitlist and only one or two days come thru. Do they automatically switch you or do they ask what you want to do.

I know this has been explained a million times, but I can't find the answers to my exact questions. Thanks

You have to wait until the 7 mo. mark. But you might not need the wait list, depending on when you are going. I would reserve at your home resort now as a back up.

Good luck and have a great trip.

It sounds like you have reservations already and plan to change. You should do so day by day starting at 7 months from the check out day for the first day you want to change. There is no pre-waitlist you can get on early that will help you get ahead of others calling at 7 months out. As for how you match from the wait list, the option is up to you. You can waitlist day by day or for the entire amount as a chunk. If you get on the list for the entire reservation at one time and they get 4 of the 5 days, they will give it to someone else. If you have enough points, do this. Keep your 11 month reservation for the entire time. Call day by day from the first check out day for BCV. Wait lists what you don't get as a day by day, automatic confirmation. Then when you get it all, cancel the portion of your home resort ressie that you don't need. If you don't have enough points to do it that way, do what you can. Remember you can also ask what the anticipated availability is which may help you decide what chances to take and which ones not to take. Good luck.
