Waitlist question for 12/8-14- Chances?

My DH and I are new DVC members and we had a Jan vacation planned at BWV that we just had to cancel because of DH work. Now we tried to get a reservation at any resort (1 bd, 2 bd, studio or even a 3 bd) for 12/8-16, but we were only able to get 12/14-12/16 at OKW (2 bd). We are on the wait list for anything that becomes available from 12/8-14- what do you think my chances are???

I am amazed that you got even those days at this late date. I would say your chances were practically non-existent, but who knows? Stranger things have happened.

Sorry your vacation was canceled. That's not fun.

As far as the waitlist goes, it's a long-shot but you never know. At this point, you'll have more luck at seven days out by calling each day (probably several times a day) since there is no waitlist after 7 days out.

Many folks who own DVC like to go during the first two weeks of December so those weeks book up VERY fast and stay that way. Plus, LOTS of folks are on waitlists for those two weeks starting at 7 months out.

However, it's all fair game at the 7-day out mark...since there's no longer a waitlist for anyone.

Wow! Thanks for all of your input, I appreciate it. If nothing comes thru, we will be staying at All Star Movies for 12/8-14 (for cash).

We have been on this list for at least 2-3 mths.......we have Dec 10&12 for a studio....I went ahead and booked cash for the other 2 nights (DVC) 11&13...CM said i will still be on list if room becomes available but i wonder??? When i called yesterday she had a 1 bd rm at OKW for 3 nights but i didnt take it...thats my story.......I figured by the time i booked at POR for 4 nights it would be about the same $$$ and i wouldnt have a studio but a hotel rm...

Minneapolis just had an unbeatable airfare to Orlando ($100 RT) so I decided to take my three year old daughter for a couple nights. I called every day, sometimes a couple times, to try to get something (anything!) for Dec 12 and 13. Finally this morning I hit the jackpot and got two nights at a SSR studio.

I was fully expecting to get stuck with a cheap room offsite on that short of notice, but I was persistent on calling and I did get something on points. Each time I called I told them I was open to any room type at any resort, even if I had to switch resorts.

That's great!! I called yesterday afternoon (one of several times) and I was able to get 12/13 OKW 2 bd to go with my already reserved 12/14 and 12/15- so now I have 3 nights at OKW and 5 nights at all star movies. I'll keep trying, I'm determined!
